We do have quite a thread on the toxic fumes/baking babies. I can tell you that the Secrist vinyl made in America is non-toxic. It is even posted on the Secrist website. Other than that... Vinyl made in Germany is about the same and they have higher regulations on their vinyl.
Most vinyl made elsewhere (like made in China) is not non-toxic and gives off toxic fumes, especially if the vinyl is mixed with any silicone. And silicone definately should not be baked!

There is also some good threads on using the heat-gun. I, along with Secrist, would not suggest using the heat-gun for an entire kit (6" mini's excluded) as it can be easy to miss an area of paint therefore making it not permanent. Baking is only for the Genesis and all other heat-set paints, as they must be baked to be permanent. They are not air dry.

Silicone kits or dolls cannot be used with the heat-set paints. They need special "silicone" paints.
