Does realistic synthetic baby hair exist?

Hello everyone, now that I've gotten past Rooting 101 and am actually happy with my work, I find I am definitely allergic to mohair. I am so disappointed, as learning was a struggle (well chronicled in these Secrist annals, I'm afraid. ) I itch so badly for hours that I have coined the term violent itching, which is not an exaggeration.  I look like I've had an altercation with a bobcat. I can't take meds everytime I want to work on or play with my  "kids" so I am looking into synthetic or other alternatives. I did root human hair on one doll but it seemed very coarse and un-babylike. Does anyone have any sources or ideas? If anyone knows about rooting synthetic hair, where I can get it, please share, if you have a few minutes. I know painting hair is an option but I like the soft feel of baby hair so much that it's part of the reason I do dolls. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

Cheri Sullivan

I haven't seen any but I wasn't looking hun. I'm sorry to hear about your allergy to the mohair. That is so sad.
One woman used her dogs hair after brushing it (lots of work to card and comb), someone else used Angora Rabbit hair.
They have synthetic hair at Michaels crafts but it doesn't look very good and it also course, as you mentioned human hair. I tried it on a black doll for the steriotypical hair. It was "ok" for a few days but then turned into bad Barbie doll hair lol.
You may want to google it or maybe contact Stephanie Sullivan at hunnybuns nursery. She is the one that made the rooting dvd with Secrist. She may have a solution for you. I'm sorry I didn't have a solutionn for you, please let us know if you find something that works for you. :D

You are so very welcome hun. And don't forget to check with Stephanie.
We all whine at one point or another in here, but at least we have sympathetic forum friends :D
