Today I was informed that Secrist will be closing our little family forum. I e-mailed them back to say how much we love it here and have become a family. I was also informed that there were posts saying not nice things about Secrist and some drama going on.
I don't recall any drama or name calling in the last few months, do you?
If you could make a difference by telling Secrist why you don't want them to close our forum, would you do it? I have asked them for more time to be sure that you all know where to go for another forum, and also let them know the responses I have had from you all. Maybe now it's your turn to speak up.
I will try to post a poll to see if you want to close the forum or if you would like to leave it open.
I know personally, it would be a black day for me if they close it.
I hope they don't close the forum! I'm new here, but I've already learned so much, and everyone was nice and helpful! I also don' recall any negative things ever been said about the forum or Secrist.
this is just silly on thier part.......as far as i know forums don't cost anything........and its not like they're on it like bb is so whats the deal.........we have all helped each other in the past with reborning issues and will again in the future. thats what this forum is about .....REBORNING.......you know secrist like the kits you sell........all i can say is .......DUH.......sage
I have been e-mailing back and forth with Joanna, Pat Secrist's wife. Here is the latest:
"Hi Pat,
I forwarded your e-mail to Pat and Mae. They both said the same thing that I was feeling. You can go ahead and keep the forum open if you want to as long as you don't allow negative things to be said about us or other artists. If you still want to continue with it, you can do that.
Have a great day, Joanna"
I believe I know the person who has caused this issue in the first place, I'll not elaborate on that, but this person even tracked me down in my personal facebook page and threatened me personally with a lawsuit (without a leg to stand on) for the last drama in forum. But we won't go into that. It is over with now, and I was forced to remove those posts. But we do have a decision to make, so here is the question...
Do we want to keep the forum open or do we all want to go over to another "family type" forum? Kim has offered for us to go over to her forum. If we move to another forum, I'm trying to figure out how to save the vast history of questions and answers in this forum so we don't lose all our information. I will still moderate this forum but with no compensation from Secrist (don't worry, it was a barter anyway) and I am willing to do that for our little forum family, no problem. However, if you all want to go to AWRAF with Kim (Liselle) we can do that with no issues. I would have suggested that anyway if this forum was closed anyway. There is more leeway over there, you can use full dealer names instead of using bb, dd, etc. But if we go, it would be nice to go as a group. Ok, I'm going to stop talking now hahaha.
If anyone wants to order from me, I am a Secrist dealer and have been for years (Mr Secrist has allowed me to say this in forum since I am the moderator, just in case you were wondering). ANYTHING that they offer on their site, you can also order from me, and I usually throw in a little surprise gift with each order. All you have to do is go to www.secristdolls.com, put stuff into your shopping cart but DON'T click to submit the order. Then copy and paste your order into an e-mail to me, pay through PayPal, and I'll have your order drop-shipped to you! It's that simple. It's a win-win situation! My e-mail (until I get my desktop set back up) is: buffingtonsdirect2@yahoo.com. That is also where you will send your paypal payment for your order. Just send me your order, I'll invoice you through PayPal, you pay the invoice, and then I drop-ship your order. I also accept credit cards through PayPal so I got all the bases covered I think.
NOOOOOO!! They just can't do that! If drama is the problem and "not so nice" postings about Secrist, then why not just remove the culprits instead of making the rest of us pay for it by removing the forum?
I do agree, and from now on, those types of posts will be removed by me. I won't have to wait and ask permission any longer to remove them or to ban the culprits from posting. This will still be our little family forum and I hope that many more people come in.

If you guys want to come over to AWRAF, feel free. Pat, if we HAVE to, we simply copy/paste pertinent information over to the new site. I've done it before, it's a PITA, but it can be done.
I hope we don't have to move, because this is a good place to be, but there are options if we do.
Ladies, I am new here but have been looking for a GREAT "family type" forum. If anyone could supply me with the URL for the forum that you are all going to be meandering to I would greatly appreciate it. I have been looking around this great place and really fell in love with the topics and information. I was in need of some information and found just want I was looking for. Thanks for being so helpful.... Hugs, Jenn
so glad they saw fit to let us stay open , this was the first forum i join and besides one other it my fav. thanks pat for going to bat for us ..........sage
Yikes! If this must be closed I sure hope someone can take the treasure trove of invaluable, first-hand information and carry it over to a new site. You have a dollmaker's encyclopedia here. I'll soon be starting new projects. I've been away from it for several months. I have questions and this is the first place I came.
It seems to me that since this is on Secrist's turf they have the right to not post negative commentary regarding their company if they choose to. If something is inappropriate or too long some editing could reasonably be applied. I would prefer not to have my questions reworded or added to, but deletions for redundancies or fluff would be understandable. If this vote counts, make mine a NO on closing.
Thanks Cheri. We ARE staying open, no problem. Yes, it is their forum and they do have the right to do whatever with the commentary, and we have had a little bit of drama. But that is all over now, closed and deleted. We continue on from here and we are a GREAT family forum with lots of information!
The only reason someone's post would be altered is due to posting PICS in the wrong place (only allowed in artist showcase, other threads must have only links to pics). Other than that, if a post was derrogatory on members or Secrist, it WILL be deleted and the person posting that item will be warned once and if they don't comply, they will be banned. Its that simple now.
We are a family forum, have young people here and joining all the time. We are a great group of artists and we will stay drama free lol. We are all glad to be staying open!
Well, didn't I come in on the tail end of this conversation, I'm glad they have been reasonable and seen fit for you to keep this open Pat. The only thing I would like to add, is why not stop the guests from looking unless they join. We are responseable ladies oon this forum, and I can only think of one unfortunate comment that you saw fit to delete that person. XXXXX June.
I had asked about that June, but apparently with this type of format it wasn't possible. So if people want to be guests, I guess they will have to remain guests unless they want to sign up, which costs nothing. But we do hope they don't lerk for long and as you have said many times "come out and play with us" hehehe. We don't bite and would love to know "who" we are talking to :D
So glad to see the forum is still open. I've been away from it for a few months and when I came back in August I couldn't find it! Said it was under construction. So glad its still here, its been awhile and I missed you all. Glad to see though everyone is doing great. Congrats Pat on your beautiful new grandbaby, they are such a joy and make everything worth while =) Now I think I'll spend some time trying to catch up on about 10 months of whats been happening here LOL {{hugs}}
A very BIG welcome back Tina! Yes, we did have a little excitement in here while you were gone. A reborner came in and caused some serious drama some time ago, and this person (who shall remain nameless) contacted not only Secrist after she was blocked and said stuff about them, and sought me out on my personal fb page with threats, threatened them with a law suit. She had no leg to stand on but Secrist didn't want the drama so they were going to close the forum. So now they have decided to keep it open, I have the right to block such people and also remove their post if they get deroggatory and such. Trying to keep our family drama and meanness free!
Let us know what you have been doing while you were away. And have fun on your 10 month research of forum lol
Hello and welcome back Tina, How is Julian doing? Joshua is getting so big I can't believe he's 19 months already we love him so much but he wears grandma and his papa out he is sooo active, we used to keep him 3 days at a time we had to cut that to 2 days, I'm only 56 years old but when he leaves I feel 66 LOL, I'm glad you are back.
You poor old thing Dee, I'm almost 65yrs old and have a Granddaughter here full time. I've been told latley that I only look 55, have had my hair blonded instead of dark an d it does soften your face. LOL. Welcome back Tina.

Pat, Wow, some people are just plain rude and don't seem to want any help. Not to mention chasing you down on FB! Too scary I guess thats why I'm so caution on it afraid of the weirdos lurking in the shadows. I can't imagine anyone having a problem here though and causing trouble, I always felt right at home with all you lovely ladies. I missed everyone here! Much of my time off has been busy helping my mother in law after the passing of my father in law last Nov. Added to that work has been crazy, family drama, and chasing after a very active grandson...not to mention adding in the everyday routine of plain old life LOL. My daughter is getting married in May so to top everything off I've been planning a engagement party, bridal shower, and wedding.
Dee, Julian is getting big and doing great! Thanks so much for asking. He'll be 2 in December and talking like he's been doing so for years! He's so smart I told my daughter she's going to have her hands full with him and she said Mom tell me about it she already has her hand full! LOL!Amazing how fast they pick up on things I often forget he's only 22 months. So glad to hear Joshua is doing great as well, Yes it sure doesnt take long for them to grow up, it seems like only yesterday we were waiting very impatiently for thier arrival =) I also know what you mean about wearing you out..my husband and I have Julian 3 - 4 times a week while my daughter finishes her college classes or is at work and he wears me out by the time he goes home and I'm only 42! The hardest part is his in a mom-mom phase lately where when she comes to get him he runs to me and screams bye bye to her, gives her such a hard time leaving.
Speaking of arrivals congrats again Pat, your granddaughter is simply a doll! Such a beautiful little girl I know she just melt her grandmoms heart.
June I hope everything is well with Sam and the family. I'll have to remember the lighter hair thing for softening the face...they say your only as old as you feel but any help in looking younger doesn't hurt either ;)
Anyway I've rambled quite enough for now and almost time to pick up the little one while mommy goes to work. I am so glad my home away from home is still here and for Pats determination to keep our little family intact! You ladies have always been here for whatever I needed whether it was advice or just plain comfort and support. Hugs to All!!!
LOL, about the hair lighting it is true I was a hairdresser for some years but had to give it up because of allergies, was taught the older you get you should go shorter and lighter, I have not cut my hair in years just cut it yesterday into a chin length bob now I have to put my color back in I love the cut I got the same for my 50th birthday, my son and daughter-in-law have been telling me to get it cut like that again so I did they kept saying that I won't do I should have bet them money lol I have'nt told them yet it will be a surprise.
It was a combined effort Tina, to save the forum. thanks for the good words hun. this is our family and I too am glad that everyone pitched in to save us. I just extremely emphasized that we didn't want to leave and gave my word that there would be no drama or derogatory comments. HUGS :)
Hey all im new to reborning and am realy glad that the forum is her to stay. ive got my first doll and am buying supplies to start. this forum to me is a place to learn from others who have been there. mabee some day ill be as good as yall and be able to teach others what i learned. here in oklahoma there dosent seam to be much as far as classes or supplies just what can be found at hobby lobby. secist is better and cheaper.
Just wandering through forum and saw that I had missed this post. It just takes some good dvd's or literature, a good class or a paid online class and some practice. You'll be good in no time hun. With each doll kit you do you'll see improvement!
