Its that time of year again, the Colliii Awards registrations period is just around the corner and with it the chance to enter your dolls on the worlds largest stage!
Hello, I checked the website but can't find any definitive information. Can someone help? I am very interested in entering a baby for the competition. I'm trying to find out as many details as I can. Thanks
If you go to www.colliii.com you should be able to find the information on entering the contest. I'll try to get on the site so I can give more information. Ash... yes, it is an online contest and you submit your pics how they tell you on the site. I think (don't quote me lol) there may be a fee, but I'm not sure.
Someone could also search the forum for the contest info that James posted last year!
Thanks Pat. I found the info. Yes there is a fee, it is different depending on the catagory. It's either $25 or $50. There is alot of buzz right now as to the fairness of the contest. It seems many are angry saying that the well known artists and those with high quality cameras are the only ones that win. Others are upset that it run by popularity and that folks are promoting their dolls even though the rules say you shouldn't.
Some suggestions came up last year and I'm hearing them again this year that they should have all babies wear a plain white onesie or jumper against a plain background with no identifiable marks or working to let people know who they belong to. The believe this will level the playing field and allow it to be judged more fairly.
Another person was pretty irrate and states she would like to see more transparency on the voting process. She feels it rigged and that the judges are not paying attention to the people's choice. Hummm so good conversation going on over there. I'm thinking twice.
i did read about that if you promote your doll by saying about the contest that you will be disqualified .. maybe they arent fair over their ..hhmm people .......
I was thinking about entering this year... I'm not so fond of the popular vote, only because some people know a LOT of people who will vote for their doll, some use their large customer base to get votes, some, like you said, tell their people info about their doll when they're not supposed to so they can get the mist votes. It's very sad and that makes the deck stacked IMHO.
But if they get everything worked out I'd be happy to enter. :D
Artdolls.com has a yearly competition. You might go on their site or contact Jack. Other than that I'm not really sure. I know that the CAM (ceramic association of MN) has a yearly comp but it's for porcelain dolls. I tried last year to get one of my reborns in but they said they don't know how to judge them as they have not had anyone interested in entering one except me. They said I could be a judge but then I couldn't enter. so... ?
Maybe you could google reborn doll comps and read what comes up and then decide. Or maybe ask Stephanie Sullivan at hunnybuns nursery. She might know since she is an artist and sculptor.
