Newbie Nunni has Question
Permalink

Hello Everyone, I am hoping to be a new Mom soon to my baby Dakota. I am waiting for her to arrive so that I can get started.  I have to say that I was just amazed at the work you ladies do to make these babies look so real, and was so impressed I have to give it a try.  My Question is what is the difference between the peach and pink kits? and also I was going to purchase a drying rack, and some extra paints are there any that I should definately purchase?  Dakota is coming in a kit from bb, so there is a dvd and a lot of other things coming with her.  I was wondering if you had any advise as to things I really should invest in. thanks in advace and I can't wait to join the reborning family!!!

Firstly welcome Nunni, with the paints to start of with , if you purchase a set of premixed, they will give you most of the collours you need. The other main two for caucasion baby is flesh 07 and 08. Archival Oils, Ouderless Solvent. As to colour, each person preferes to paint differently, with different layers and their own teckneiques. as for the pellets , we cant read that post, so you may need to go delete it and do one the same as you have done this one. I hope this is of some help. You can look under topics already started in Miscellanious chatter, you just have to be prepared to look for awhile as there is a lot of tuturials and of posts on different subjects. XXXXX June.

Welcome to our family forum :) It's always nice to have someone come in that is new and excited about our art form!

Yes, what June said is good.
The difference between the pink and peach kits (and usually BB is the only one offering pink) is the coloring which usually has to be neutralized (use our search feature). The peach ones usually don't need any correction unless they have an orange-ish tint to them (then use our search feature).
There are many wonderful artists that are in our forum, you will just love it here. We are all willing to share :)

Most newborns are over 5lb, depending on if they are premies, you could weigh the kit, filling, Not Much, glass beads are the best for weighting I think, but I mix in polly pellets to make up extra weight for less cost. So if they are all weighed you would get the ammount needed for that kit. Dont pack them too tight as their head needs to flop. Don't use sand as if later you decide to sell they wont be able to leave the country because of quarinteen policies. XXXXX June.

Hey,Nunni!
I am new to this forum and to newborning as well! I made my avatar- Gumdrop , which is Secrist's Course#2 kit and now tomorrow I am going to stat on Course #3 kit with Rosie. That one will be full newborned with veining and rooted hair, so that will be the first time I do that since Gumdrop was learning only blushing and crease/wrinkle, and lip techniques. I can't wait to start mine , too! We can add our pictures when they are done to the Artists Showcase forum on here! Take care, Georgiasmile

Your best bet on the weighting issue would be to use the search feature at the top of the page. Just type in your word or words. There have been many posts on weighting your baby in the forum. :)
