Yes it is, but then we have to buy new paints, so not so cheap. I just bought 2 sets. XXXXX June.

I think you could use the same technique with your regular paints. I saw it yesterday, think I'm going to give it a try. Now the paint brush for the technique is quite expensive so I'll be looking for a substitute to try.

i was looking at that and wondering what paints he had used, it looks like a big blusher brush wonder if that would work

He's using the authentic reborn paints, no thinner needed. I thought of a blusher brush as well I think I have a couple of big mop brushes that look like that too, I'll have to give it a try :)

biggrin     i have small to medium highlighter brush i bought at a drugstore that i use to make capillares and apply blush.....i love it. you need to look for a stiffish brush. if you touch your face with the end of the brush you should be able to sort feel indivual hairs kinda pokeing you. i hope this made sense.                        sage   aww

You can just use your regular paints with them, it's just that the AR paints don't need thinner. Where it shows to use right from the container just use a little more of your thinned stuff. Or if you get/have the Genisis thinner in the jar (kinda like a thick clearish paste) you can mix your paints with that instead of the liquid thinners. But only put not more than 40% of it in or the paints won't work right.

Those makeup brushes you already have might work. Just give em a try, maybe on a test subject :o to see. And personally, I like my makeup sponges better than the yellow round ones on a stick. But it's a personal preference I think. Might be a good investment for newbies though. I have all 4 inner glow babies on the way to my house. And I'm not wigging them, I'm gonna root since I don't have to spend allll that time painting, just "adding" things (veins, capilaries, etc). :)

Stupid me. I thought that inner glow was a new type of paint, I see now from what Pat said that it is the ones half painted. XXXXX June.

I don't know, half the fun for me is the painting and creating all the depth and texture of the "skin" I just don't think I'd feel I actually created it if I used one half painted before I got it. JMHO

I think most of it is just the perwinkle internal wash that they do for you. I don't really think there's that much airbrushing. Probably like the AV dolls... they paint lips, blush on cheeks, eyebrows (but not on the inner glow babies), and a little blushing on the hands and feet I think. I'm not sure if it's much until I get mine. I'll let you know, unless there's someone on forum that already has theirs that can let us know?

I mean there's still a LOT that can be done to them. I don't mean they're like the fully painted AV dolls, just the "light" painted ones. Still the translucent vinyl :D

I have had the same dolls in my display for (and don't laugh now) over a year! That includes my AV dolls (one of whom is getting adopted in Nov). The AV prepainted dolls kits I assemble, choose a wig and glue on, add an outfit, maybe pierce the ears, and I'm done! I usually price them between $100 and $150. Kids can play with them (gently). I think I will probably charge the same for the inner glow babies (depending on what else I do to them), and the customers will know that I "enhanced" them, still reborning but not fully reborned by me. Most would be "ok" with that if they get a less expensive price. Of course I'd have my regular reborns right next to them so they can see the difference.

This would be an answer to the dilema of the person who wants a reborn but can't afford the more spendy ones. See where I'm going with this? You should always have a low end and high end (IMHO). That way everyone (mostly) is happy!

hmm never thought of it quite that way Pat. I see what you mean. You have to let me know to what extent the painting is when you get yours.

I absolutely will hun. I'm hoping they come this week.
I think the pictures on the website might be a little too colorful (at least I hope so or I'll be toning down babies lol). When I get mine I'll try to take outdoor pics so it's more realistic, you know, like snapshots not ads. :o
