Hi everyone, I just found this forum today. I'm interested in trying the hair done with Prismacolor pencils. I've played with it on a test head and I love the look. My question is this. Since there is layering involved, do you do one layer, apply matte varnish and bake, then do the next layer? Does the varnish take the pencil well? I'd love some tips from anyone who has done this. Thanks!
I've used them on two of my babies and then sealed it with matte finish when I was done. You don't have to bake in between layers I use different shades to achieve the layered look. Hope this helps!
Apparently the Prismacolor pencils, when put on as hairs, soaks into the vinyl. I think if you bake it, it might go away. Most just do their hair, the use a high quality acrylic sealer in matte like Tina suggested. I usually let the colors set for about 24-48 hours and then see if I need to touch up any before sealing. Letting them set gives the pigments in the pencils time to soak in.
You can also use them for eyebrows the same way.
And welcome to our family forum Mel! We're glad you found us. You will find everyone friendly and helpful here. :)
