I have to make a reborn for my daughter. It's going to be a special surprise for her birthday. Can anyone tell me where I can buy machines for heartbeats and breathing? Thanks!

So glad to know where to find the breathers! They are pricey so will have to save up for one of those plus the body.

i'm not interested in getting into the breathers , mainly cos i've had the breathing cat and the mechanizim breaks fairly easiely . if someone pays for a baby with a breather and it breakes you better know how to fix it or be ready to shell out the cash to replace it. sage
Do you feel that opening the nostrils and therefore being able to list the doll for sale as a "breather" helps you get a higher price than for a doll without open nostrils?
That's a good question, Georgia. One I don't have an answer to, because I don't plan on ever opening the nostrils on my babies. But I'd like to hear everyone else's thoughts on that!
What they're referring to here is a mechanism that's inside the body of the doll that makes the chest rise and fall as if it were breathing.
Personally, those kinda creep me out. My sister has a moving doll, and it's seriously creepy. lol
That's waaay too creepy for me! I know that's what they are referring to on this thread, but I figured this was a good place as any to bring the nostril thing up as I have been looking at seller descriptions on Ebay and I see they are listing dolls with open nostrils as breathers- without mechanisms, just opened nostrils, so...maybe I should copy and past this into a new thread about it...let's see what everyone says...
Hummmm breathers.....well I think breathing mechanisms are a good idea I just bought one from a woman in Texas and had to send it back because it made a clicking noise. She then sent me another one (which cost me more because I had to pay to ship the thing back) and it works fine.
However, I plan to use this one in a baby I'm making for myself next. Since this whole mess with the Paypal thing....I definately do not want to take the chance in selling a "breather" and it breaks or starts making noise. I think that will really cost more in the long run.
Umm creepy? I don't think the open nostrils and breathing mechanisms would be creepy I'm anxious to try it out and see how it works. The only drawback I guess would be that the baby isn't going to be as cuddly because now she'll have this boxy thing in her chest. The body I bought for her has a seperate compartment so the stuffing and weighting beads don't clog it or interfere with it. Which I think is cool. The same woman sells it and they're custom made.
The price compared to others was reasonable and the design is definately better (smaller and more compact). So, I don't know. I guess it's up to the individual. As for open nostrils, i personally don't want to do it. I feel that the shading I do is good enough and if I open the nostrils it breaks the integrity of the kit. A buyer once asked me if they could open the mouth a little more. Well if I had open nostrils and they did that and messed it up I feel they would say it was my fault. Perhaps I'm squeemish about things now but that's how I feel.
I see your point Em, but they just creep me out because I know they're not real, but they're lying there LOOKING real. Which now, in retrospect, isn't that the idea? LOL
I don't have a problem with those little furry cats that breathe, not sure why the breathing dolls bother me. Guess I watch too much TV.
LOL LOL!!! My daughter says the same thing. She has a "MY Twin" doll that my mother bought her for christmas 17 yrs age. She was happy until my mother told her it would haunt her at night like the movie "Trilogy of Terror". To this day she still leaves that doll at the bottom of the closet. It took her 12yrs to even bring it home! I understand though...everyone is different
