You just need patience when painting and rooting reborns millie, I bought my first kit from Secrist in Europe http://www.secristdolls.eu/ Once you have the basic kit you can add as you go along.

I am not in the least bit talented but I started reborning about three years ago and have now sold about 60 odd all over the world. I love every minute of it.  Im sure if you have the patience to knit your own blankets etc you would have no problem with doing your own reborn.

Good luck biggrin

Hello and welcome to the forum. Might I suggest if your just starting out to invest in one of Secrist's reborning dvd. They really give you a good foundation for begining the reborn process. Thats what I did when I started and I found it really helpful in answering alot of questions. From there you'll develop your own techniques =)

Welcome to the forum, I always say, if you can put on makeup, than up can paint a reborn, the eyebrows for a beginner would be the hardest thing to do, but after you practice awhile it is a breeze. Can't wait for your first pic on the Artist showcase. XXXXX June.

Welcome! A DVD is definitely the way to go. I would suggest getting the full term baby kit from Secrist, which from what I understand has a wonderful DVD in it, and everything to get started.

Have fun!!

The DVD's are of paramount importance for newbies like yourself when starting to reborn (IMHO). I have seen babies done both with and without the benefit of the DVD. Makes a difference.
http://www.secristdolls.com/inc/sdetail/42471 this set comes with a dvd. But I don't know if I'd start out with a 6" mini. Usually the smaller things are harder or at least more involved.

But go to the website and see what looks good to you and the go! :)

Welcome, Amanda!

I completely agree with the others who mentioned the learning DVD.  I really believe anyone with patience who likes making things can learn to create these babies.  The learning curve is significantly reduced if you invest in an instructional DVD.  If you want to purchase the DVD and doll kit, Secrist has a kit deal that includes everything you need.  Check it all out on the webstie, and then ask us if you need further advice.

You sound like someone who is going to enjoy creating lifelike babies along with the rest of us.

Again, welcome!

Linda
