Have you baked it yet Anna? If not then get an acrylic roller, or if you haven't got one something smooth like a glass spice jar, and roll all over the head, (not over your features though!) when you've got it as smooth as you can take a tiny bit of baby oil and smooth it over the clay, this will even out any bumps. You can use a small paintbrush to drag it around hard to get at parts like around the nose and eyes. The oil will attract dirt and dust though so best to do this bit just before you bake. After baking you can also sand, i use the wet & dry stuff (but i always use it dry). Start with the roughest paper, when you've gone all over with that use the next roughest and then finish with the fine. Dust it off with a big brush and massage some baby oil in, this will get rid of any scratches, you can wipe it off after with a paper towel. Hope that helps! :)
