white film with moist glaze?

So I have looked around on the boards and so far haven't found an answer...so please forgive me if this was posted elsewhere and I missed it!

In any case, I used the Authentic Reborn moist glaze medium on my baby's eyelids and lips in what I thought was a thin layer. Used the heat gun to set it. It looked fine for several days and then when I was working on rooting hair, I noticed that there is a white chalky film, mostly in the eye corners but also just visible on the lips. The 'moistness' of the glaze is not there anymore. It seemed like I could kind of scrape some of it off? On the eyelids anyway. It's weird because I know it was a thin, thin layer of glaze. I tried washing it off with soap and water last night. When the baby is wet you don't see the white areas, but they reappear again once he is dried. How, or can I? fix this? I was half thinking about trying another light layer of glaze, maybe the last one wasn't set enough...or could I have 'overbaked' it with the gun?  I obviously don't want to put the babe in the oven or I'll melt off his hair!

Any ideas?

Kris

The glaze is meant to be an ultra thin layer. And if you did it that way and used the heat gun, you may be right, it was probably over heated. The vinyl seems to get shiny if it gets too hot. So really it could be a case of both.

You can possibly remove it and start again. Or you can hit them with a slight layer or super shine remover (so they go matte) and then just a very slight layer of the glaze.
Also, if you are using mohair (or people hair) on your baby you actually can put him in the over (if you want to) and it shouldn't do anything to the hair. Some wet it before, some put a wet washcloth on it and some even put conditioner on it and then bake. I do the washcloth one.

You want to watch so you don't get too many layers on the lips. And just do really really thin layers if you do. :)

I will try tonight and see if I can get this to improve.  Last night when I was home I found that I could gently scrape off the whitish stuff on the eyelids (really mostly at the creases, so it would make sense that this is where it was too thick possibly...)  We'll have to see, and then I can post some pictures, he is turining out really nice except for the minor problems!

Ok. Let us know. We'll look in the artist showcase for pics (or you can post links to your pics in here). :)
