Hello! My name is Christina and I came across this site after seeing a reborn baby doll from a coworker. I fell in love! I have been reading different post and decided to try the #2 course. now with that, what type of hair is recommended, I have seen photos of some that look so smooth and some that are fluffy. is it all the same mohair and just styled differently? or is there a silky one? I have NEVER done this before, so sorry for the crazy questions....but help!
There are different types of mohair, depending where you get it from, with the straighter type and the use of a curling mouse you can style it to suit. I'm not sure what brand they have where you live, some of the girls in Australia use Weaving Dixie, but I think Secrists sell different types, depending on if you like Curly, Wavey, or Straight as they all give different looks to the same baby, Buy the DVD on Rooting it will be a great help when you start, once you have seen it and know what you are doing, the same with the Genesis Heat Set Paint DVD, you can sell it on, on ebay or to some other new reborner. Thank you so much for the info. are there any stores you would recommend getting paint from, I only have two stores in my area, hobby town usa and Michaels craft store. since i have never done this before I want to start slow and see how I do in it. I am a scrapbooker by heart, but Im ready for a new adventure.
Well the only paints I can recomend is Genesis Heat Set Paints from here and you can buy a set of small tubs which will probably do about 5-6 babies (premixed) then if you like them you can do as I did and putchase some of the larger pots later on. XXXXX June.
