I am new and stumbled onto this awesome art. I am Christina from Ohio... I so want to learn to do this. I have purchased the Preemie Starter Kit. I did notice that this is Course #2. Should I have done the 6" Mini Reborn Starter Kit Course #1 first? Any help on this is appreciated.. Thanks in advance!! Christina
Welcome to our family forum Christina from Ohio! You'll like it here. Please feel free to search the forum if you have questions, then if you don't find it come in and ask. :)
Course #2 is ok if that's where you started. I guess I really don't recommend the 6" minis to brand new people. Even thought it's a starting point I think they are a little small and don't give you a real sense of exactly "how" things really work. Don't get me wrong, I love the little things but they are extremely little. Usually smaller is harder.
Course 2 will give you a jumping off place to learn the techniques to do a good job. We also have the beginner classroom training which I feel is the best! But I would watch the dvd that came with your kit a couple of times before beginning to do the doll. That will help things sink in a little more. And as my friend is so fond of telling me... "practice makes perfect!". It takes practice and experience to get really good!

Thanks so much for your input, but unfortunately I bought the kit from our local Hobby Lobby and had to take it back...It had missing pieces and the wooden sticks that came with it were broke in half. Evidently someone had this out once before...It was the only one they had...They weren't sure when they will get another one. I am however planning to get another one. So you will see me in here more and more I am sure. Thanks Christina
I will notify Secrist of the condition of the kit there and that you said it apparently had been returned before.
You can also order things through me if you don't have a dealer. Just click on my web link in my post or you can send me an e-mail with a copy/paste of your shopping cart from the Secrist website to buffington@secristdolls.com. :)
Welcome, Christina! It's too bad about the kit, and I'm glad you mentioned it so Pat was able to help.
You're going to love this art, and I hope you will come back often.
