I have recently been working on three sculpts at the same time. My Zoe has been sitting on my drying rack waiting to be rooted and after picking her up today, I noticed an oily residue on all her body parts. Anyone ever have this problem?? Here's some piccies...

Wow. Never had that happen to me and my first baby is a Zoe sculpt. What kind of paints are you using? I can't imagine what would cause that, but I'm sure someone else will be able to help. Acccckkkk! And she's so beautiful, too. Hugs, Melinda
Have never had that happen to me either when painted with Genesis or AR paints. I know some have done that before they were painted. If you go to this link: http://www.secristdolls.com/reborn_blog/view/68014/how_to_clean_oily_vinyl it will tell you what to do with oily vinyl Hope this helps :)

I'm using Genesis paints (which is all I use) and I've never had this problem before...I'll check out that link...thanks for the replies!
Did you notice whether the vinyl had a slimy / oily feel to it prior to painting? I have had vinyl that appeared to be wet inside the packaging. Upon removing the pieces, there was definitely slimy or oily substance on the pieces.
I have also seen and felt that same oily sliminess within my vintage CPK collection. Most of the time the pieces that are affected cannot be completely salvaged. And many of the oily pieces also have what is called "pox"--little discolored circles on the vinyl. I believe I read that the slimy vinyl with the pox was produced by only one or factories licensed to make the dolls. That leads me to believe it was a problem that originated with the doll production in those factories.
If you ever get vinyl that is slimy or oily upon removal from the package, do not paint it. Just put it back in the package, and then contact the seller to request the bad parts be exchanged for good ones. If the seller doesn't really check the vinyl prior to shipping, it's probably a surprise to the vendor as well.
I'm not a chemist so am not able to tell. you exactly why this happens. If it's oily right out of the package, you will never really be rid of the slimy feeling no matter how many times you clean it. Thank goodness it happens rarely.

Hi Linda...thanks for the reply! I did notice a slimy feeling when I took the kit out of the package. After washing in soapy water and while painting, it seemed fine. It was only after sitting that I noticed the oily, slimy feeling. Not sure what to do at this point. I'm trying to get an answer from Pat Secrist...guess maybe I'll call them.
Calling them sounds like a good idea. I don't know if they will take it back or not since you already painted it, but it's definitely worth trying--especially, if you think they were suspect before you painted them. I hope it all works out.

Always check your order over as you only have a 10 day window to let them know if there were any problems at all. Legally they are not responsible after that 10 days (but they should work with you on this I believe). Their customer service is usually very good :) From a business standpoint, they can only replace the defective part(s), not compensate for time and materials used on the parts. This is a general rule of thumb for most businesses.
So either e-mail them or call the office. They're very nice people and don't bite :) lol
I did check the order when I received it but unfortunately the kit sat for awhile as I had others that I wanted to reborn first. I emailed and got no response, I think I'm going to call. Thanks again!!
Secrist Dolls is normally closed Friday - Sunday, and this week they will probably be closed on Labor Day. I would try to call them Monday thru Thursday.
