I've purchased a couple of Berenguer's to reborn. Their little heads are hard as rocks, and I'm afraid to try rooting on them. For the first one, I bought a wig and applied it, and then promptly ruined it when I used the heat gun to fix eyebrows. Acckkk! Also, when I used the dremel to sand down the hair lines, it made the color very much lighter than the rest of the head. Will the change of color be fixed with applying flesh layers? I'd appreciate any help and suggestions! Thanks! Melinda
Melinda, the first two babies I did were Berenguar, I didn't sand the hair off, I just made her a baby with thick hair, same with the boy. I was only using artist oil paints the as I went to a class to learn how to reborn.I prefer to use the oven as you can get the correct heat, I tried the heat gun on my triplets and ended up with shiny babies. Now I use GHSP and have no problems. If you are using them too then just use thin layers of matt varnish to finish off. With the orange colouring do a couple of mint washes(agian -less is best as you can repeat much easier than striping off) To soften the heads you use a sock with rice, you heat it for three min in the microwave with a glass of water beside it to stop the rice from buring. Place it in the head, you will need to repeat this often as the rice cools down. Happy Babies Reborning. Take a look at my two Beranguars in my web. They are the first I reborned. I havent updated my web site for awhile. Hope this is a help. XXXXXX June.

Wow, June! Your babies are beautiful! Thanks so much for the advice. I think I will not try to root the baby, just buy a wig and trim it a little. This particular baby has a bit of an older look, so should probably have more hair anyway. I just finished rooting a Secrist doll, and managed to get through the whole head with just one needle. Yeaahhh! I can't remember how many I broke on my first one. As soon as I get pics taken of my latest, I'll post in them. I appreciate your help! Melinda
I broke heaps with my first two, am getting better now, only breaking one or two. Good luck, but I still think rooting reborns is the best option as wigs are for porcelain. But that is up to you. XXXXXXX June.
I have also thought of doing a combination of painting hair and rooting some. I think it would be pretty brill! You get the coverage of painted hair and the rooting gives it kind of a 3D look! I'll keep you posted (can't do anything right now, just had surgery on my left hand last Thurs for carpal tunnel. Typing one handed for forum! :o )
