Genisis Heat Set Paints On Resin
Permalink

Hi Everyone,
My question is, would Genisis Paints work on Resin?  I found a doll offer from Ashton-Drake that I absolutely LOVE and think she would be a cutie-pie reborn baby.  But I'm not sure if I can use the Genisis Paints on her.  If so, can I bake her in the oven or would you all suggest using my heat set gun to set the paints?  I'll probably get her no matter what just cause she's a cutie!!!smilesmile

  Thanks for your help!!smile

I'm not sure the resin can be baked once it's done hun. I guess I wouldn't want to take the chance, I mean chemical wise or paint interaction wise. Genesis says not to use their paints with, over, or under any others. I would be afraid that the resin would melt anyway, not just any problem with the paints.
And that heat gun gets PLENTY hot! If you do so, you do it at your own risk :o

Hi,
Thanks Pat.    I was worried about the heat on the resin.  And the reaction of the chemicals.  Like I said, I'm still going to get the doll, just because it's a cutie-pie. smilesmile I just won't reborn it.  It would be awesome if someone could sculpt a doll that had a cutie expression like this doll.  It would make a very memorable reborn baby.  I don't have the desire to sculpt though. hmm It's enough on my plate to reborn the babies!!! (Sometimes, like the past few months, reborning has even been put on the back burner--no pun intened!!!)biggrinbiggrin

  Anyway.  Thanks for the advise.

Have you thought of trying some other type of paint?

Not really.  I've really only used Genesis.  I think I would be afraid to ruin the doll.  She really is too cute to take chances with.  Maybe some other doll though.
