Help please...... I have just received my deluxe reborn kit with my premie 17" Zoe.. YAHOO!!!
I am very excited and really enjoyed opening the box and finding all the goodies inside. I also brought baby "Honey". She is lovely. Now the problem is that when I opened up her limbs to look at them they feilt and looked greasey. Is this normal, and will she need washed. And do I need to wash Zoe. I have watched the video's and will be watching them again, over and over before I start either doll, but this has me worried as I have seen on some video clips where they wash the limbs and head first before doing any thing.. Would appriciate all idea's. Thanks Glenda
I know that I've had some kits come the same as you; feeling like they need to be washed. I generally wash all the kits I receive just to be sure to get any residue cleaned off. I just use warm water and baby soap/shampoo. If you don't have any baby products a very mild soap should be ok. I let the parts dry for 24 hours.
Hi, I use dawn dish washing liquid. It is good for removing the residue that could be on the vinyl. Good luck. It's all trial and error. So, don't get discouraged. Everyone here is happy to help.
Hi Brenda and Leanne, Hey thank you very much for that, I will wash them. I watched the video's and not one of them said anything about washing, except I have read somewhere ( not sure where as I have been everywhere looking at the art of reborning) that you had too. Well ladies thank you I will be back!!! Glenda
I always wash my kits. I use to be a tad lax with that until I had a problem with an expensive kit and the paints not ahering to the vinyl. Just make sure that you use hot water and all the soap residue is off and the kit is completely dry before you begin reborning.
I too would say wash all the parts in hot sudsy water and rinse well. Dry for 24-48 hours to be sure all the moisture is out of the vinyl or it may mold after you put it together.
