arms and legs question

Seems like I asked this somewhere, but I don't recall seeing an answer or maybe I'm still lost on this seemingly endless board. confused.gif *s*  Anyway I'm looking at the kits because I'm interested in trying one out.  I also have 2 DVD's from Secrist, but mom was in the room and I didn't really pick up too much.  I have found out that I have more control in making veins and caps. using good quaility watercolor pencils.  I tell you...if you make a goof...and you think you got it taken care of...it pops up a couple of days later..lol...it's line the blue really gets soaked into the vinyl.  But that's not really what I want to know..It in the dropdown from the Jody upgrade box.  There are 3/4 arms and legs and then there are the 3/4 NEW Infant B ones.   Does anyone know what this means??  and also it says if you just want to order a head then it's plus/minus or something. Maybe like 17.00 less than the 49.00  That's over 30.00 just for a head? ashamed

Yes, blues and reds are more highly pigmented than other colors. That is why they seem to come back to haunt you lol.

I have contacted the office to see what they are calling them. The kit comes standard with the 1/4 limbs and the dropdown says "traditional" and "Infant-B". I know we have "Brandi" limbs which are the ones sculpted by Danielle Zweers (with the closed fists) and we have the "Snuggles" limbs which are the ones with the little open hands. So I should hear in a few days.

So hang in there and I'll get back to you. I always pay extra for the Brandi limbs cause I just love them.

As far as "head only" the price listed in the dropdown is the price you minus from the regular kit price. So for example: if you wanted just a Jasmine head you would take the $49.95 that the kit costs and munus the -$16.95 from that which means the head alone would cost $33.70.

OK, now if you go look at the website you will see all the names for the limbs. Just go to the doll kits tab and after all the kits at the bottom there are pics of all the limbs with names and sizes http://www.secristdolls.com/doll_kits

Is this generally how you buy a baby from Secrist? Pick a head and then pick the limbs? I was a little confused by that. I thought you would always just buy a specific doll and the entire body was included. I prefer that hands that have space between the fingers.

LC  Iagree 100%  To list a head on the main line, then add...the arms and legs is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.  It's very misleading IMHO.
The price went up right at that time.  Most other places set a KIT.  It's like you see the price and you are so overjoyed that they are having a good sale and then you find out....it's only a head.  LOL Hopefully they will change it.  They should have a 'parts' page like everyone else.  Most heads are around 16.97....arms....lets make that a set of arms is like l5.95 and then the legs are about the same.   So..when you buy it this way it's about the same as a kit on a rather high end prices.  I think this is done so that you can match one doll and put different legs on it to make it a one of a kind.  Okay...stepping off my soapbox.  no

I don't like how Secrist changed their prices...everything adds up to be more than before. I wish they would sell things in a KIT, including limbs and bodies...and have a seperate place for heads/limbs/bodies to be apart. Just my opinion :)

They used to do that but changed it because they had a great demand for this head with those limbs, etc. Might just be a test though. I also like just going in and picking a "kit".
The cloth body and eyes have been separate for quite some time. Most doll companies sell the cloth bodies separate so you can choose.

I will let them know in the office that some are unhappy with how the "kits" are all broken down into pieces and you all want to buy "kits". We'll see what happens. But for some of you at least you now have a choice on limbs and heads.

This is really strange. I have a picture almost like your avatar. It's baby Christina with Polar bears. I'll see if I can find it. I put all the sweater and hat setx on my babies and took a pictures of them all...well almost all. There's a few others hanging around waiting for limbs, or head or head with hair..lol. I'm going to go put the picture in the showcase. I'll try to find the ones with christina.

I LOVE tigers, especially white ones. A friend of mine gave me the momma and baby tiger some years ago. I think momma makes a nice babysitter :)

something else about the selling of things

I've been trying to buy certain things, but the descriptions are not there.  Like in the embellishments I had to ask if the price was for one or a bag or what?  I asked about made by labels.  You click on and it says 'quanity 1"
So I'm thinking..holy cow...150 for each one?????  But it's 3 or 4.  It's just a little hard to understand without descriptions.  Do you find that the doe suede 'like' bodies seem a 'little' fat with the two seams down the front?  I wanted to try a couple more of the 17 inch dolls but then saw how the Kaylee set went UP...and wondering how long Cutie Pie will stay for 49.00.   Do they come out with any more l7 inch preemies or do you think they have been 'done' with them?  I really like this size.  I can carry them better..they just are a little more cuddlesome than the big babies.. ha...guess I'm getting too old to lug them big uns around. lol  Got me a Snugli....for 5.00 and free s and h.  hehe...but darn I can't figure it out. I tried it last night with my Jody baby and both of us fell on the bed.  Thank goodness I was right in front of it...hahaha..I swear..if there was a camera in this house in the middle of the night...we could win those funniest home videos.  My son said that after I fell asleep in the BR and fell off...I woke up real fast...

All of the stuff (including new babies) is in the new 2009 Tutorial Catalog available on the website. There is lots of new stuff!
As far as the description showing how many of each thing you get, I will have them clarify it. It may take a while to do this but it will be done so hang in there.

Sometimes when new kits come out it is an introductory price (not very often though) and sometimes the price is different just because it's a "limited edition". You gotta make sure you look at that.
With Sweety Pie, he has his own limbs that are made specifically for him and they are the longer limbs, and the same with Kaylee and she's also a limited edition.
Also, if you look at the descriptions of the doll kits you will see that they all came "standard" with the short 1/4 limbs and any upgrade to the longer limbs was extra! Also if you added the suede-like body or eyes, that was always extra too! So you gotta look at the entire picture when ordering (ie: the standard stuff and the upgrades).
