I discovered reborns by accident on ebay.. I think they are so amazing... I never thought i had a crafty bone in my body but they have awoken something in me and i want to try. My hubby gave me a Lifelike DOLLS subscription for xmas now i really want reborn a baby!! What i want to know is which starter kit would i be best to get.. The beginner 6" reborn through to newborning deluxe?? And what teaching tools would you recommend.. I live in a little country town in Aust and reborn supplies definately do not exist here! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Susie001, I am June M from Oz and live in a small country town halfway between Gympie and Marybourough,OLD. There are quite a few reborning suppliers in Oz. Starting out can be a bit daunting to start with, but help is always at hand. I think a 17' premie is a nice size to start of with, but you would need to get a few dvd to help you with the process, I have only recently gone onto GHSP, as I originally started out with heat set ink. Most people buying on ebay prefere Genesis Heat set Paints. Others will be on here with more advise. Happy Reborning. XXX June.
I think that is simply awesome that your hubby got you that subscription! Nice place to start. You can go either way with this... the 6" mini's are a very tiny project and some people can't deal with them until they have a little experience under their belts. But others can just do it because it's only about 3 steps.
As far as the kits and and sets, if you can manage the cost it would be best to get the deluxe kit and some extras. Especially since it has almost everything you will need. This way you can order in one place and get a big box and it's like Christmas all over!
Thanks for these responses... I have a birthday coming up soon and im thinking perhaps i should show these replys to my hubby (big hint!!!) What extras would you suggest that i would need to go with deluxe kit???
Polyfil stuffing for one. Of course the beginner classroom training dvd and if it's not included, then the rooting dvd. If you are out of the US then you will have to purchase your low odor thinner from a local place as it's not allowed to be shipped overseas. Although if you order in your own country then it shouldn't be a problem getting it with your kit. Also, some nice mohair (I believe the beginner hair comes with this kit). The English mohair is pretty good. Hmmmm, lets see... ok, nevermind about the beginner classroom dvd as it comes with the kit. I still suggest the rooting dvd so you can use all your rooting tools included in the kit. And then a droplette bottle for the thinner, I'm not sure if the cloth bodyslip comes with the doll kit or not, have to check. And of course you'll need an outfit to fit whatever size doll kit you choose to start with. You could either order one with your doll or go shopping. You will also need a roll of papertowels or a package of napkins. I think that's it. The deluxe is pretty good on containing most things.
