Hi, I have just finished my first reborn doll which I added fairy ears to and was very happy with the result . Bad news is that the ear  snapped off and had in fact chipped a little. I have no idea what I did wrong........except maybe the temperature was wrong or baked too many times. I am worried about my future fairies, can I trust the ears to stay connected to the sculpt ? Can anyone help me out ? Why was the sculpey clay brittle and not like vinyl?

Sorry to hear about your fairy ear :(

A lot of us sculptors only put our clay in the oven one time, maaaaaybe twice at the most.
It's not like vinyl at all because it's polymer which hardens. Most vinyls stay somewhat soft and pliable and some of them even contain some silicone which makes them even more pliable. All totally different animals (so to speak).

You can do that. The hair should be quite ok in the oven hun. After you bake the babe you wouldn't be able to actually root the hair anyway. the head would be too hard so you wouldn't be able to get the needle into it.
