glueing on eye lashes on open eyed babies

Hello every blankstare one iam a new member and would like to share this with you all.
I have been reborning for almost 2 years and loving every minute of it.I try out different things all the time..I have wasted so many eyelashes and then one day i went to a doll show in Adelaide,S.A..And there was a lady there that made porcellion dolls and she told me an easy way on how to apply lashes.
The secret is you use clear nail polish..So off i went and tried it myself with my next bub and i could not believe how easy it was...
Now i have no problems at all.I have a sister who has been reborning for over 4 years and she tried and now she uses nail polish as well!!!
If any one tries it this way let me know how you get on...
Regards..
Liz....smile

Thanks very much for the tip. Yes, it does work very well with the porcelains. I am a porcelain doll maker of almost 20 years now. My concern is with cracking and/or peeling. Some newborners have said that when they used the nail polish that it cracked or peeled clean off their bubs. How long have you and your sister been using the nail polish on them? Have you seen any thing happen where they are attached? Someone also mentioned yellowing of the vinyl.

If you haven't seen any of this with your bubs that's great! :)

Again, thanks for the information

Hello Buffington....No problems!! but i can see that you already know about the nail polish...I havn't had a problem with it (as yet!!!)..I have used it on a few dolls .
My sister i think have used it on about 2 dolls...And she says it's great!!!.
Now that you have told me that i will look out for it and i hope that there is no problems with my babies that i have adopted out...
Anyway nice to have met you and iam so glad that i have found a forum that i can have a chat, put my point across and ask questions...

Not only does it crack or peal, over time it goes yellow and dicolours, if you get it on acrylic eyes you then have the problem of cleaning it of with nail varnish remover or acetone, which damages the eyes.. I like, Pat B, have been making porcelain dolls for over20 yrs, also. XXX June.
