Hi,I am very new to this and have viewed the Dvd 's Secrist.I started a berenguar
factory painted doll and have followed steps.Revmoved paint, hair lines and washed the baby.
I then ordered the peaches and cream-premixed paints. I  have just baked the first layer.thin flesh 8 and then went back to the tutorial (CD) and it mentioned yellow and whit as a base.
What do I do I really don't want to mess up my cute baby. I have worked so hard. Should
I strip it down and start again with yellow and white that did not come with my peaches and cream.I would apppreciate any suggestions.

I think it depends on the kit. The doll you are working on I think has a orange/red tone right? You would want to color correct by using a color wheel. Some do a mint green wash and some a blue/purple wash.
I would visit www.angelsunwares.net on top of the page is a how to and she is working on a kit from same maker as you.

Exactly which Secrist DVD did you watch? The newborning I, II, or the Special reborn encyclpedia?

Also, like anonymous said, the Berenguers are more orangy toned, so no internal wash (this is for Secrist/AV only) and angelsunwares does a good job on the other tutorials and has also done some work/articles for Secrist.

Which Secrist DVD were you talking about in your first post (about the white and yellow) so I know what to tell you. I don't remember that part.

I'm sorry you are having trouble with your Berenguer reborn. People do successfully use Genesis on them, but some do have problems with the paint not sticking in certain areas. There is a post in here on it.

It can depend on what you used to strip it, if you washed the parts immediately in a grease-fighting dishwashing detergent AND really hot water, and sometimes you just get one that won't do what you want it to.

Some have taken the Genesis Matte sealer and put a thin layer on the areas that the paint is not sticking and it has worked for them (be sure to bake it). Also, the Berenguers tend to have an orange tone so it makes them look off color when done. If yours has that you may want to think about doing a color correction (which has also been posted about in here).

If you want different paints you might try JoSonja. They are very nice paints but can dry extremely quickly while working with them. You also may want to try the paints (it's an entire system) from DD. I have some but have not tried them yet as I like the Genesis.

HOpe this helps

The Secrist DVD's cover the Secrist method and are geared for our own Secrist Translucent vinyl. People do use the method for other doll kits but we can only comment on the results of our own kits. We do not have control over how the other kits were made and what they are made of.

If it doesn't work with the Secrist method and the Genesis you may want to try another website for Berenguers.

I don't know of any teachers in Florida, you may want to check our section on classes and see if there's anyone there. Otherwise you might try our tab on the regular part of the website under teachers.
