Removing eyes from used play dolls
Permalink

Hi--was wondering how to remove eyes from used play dolls when they are incased in plastic?  I picked up several used Berenguer dolls to reborn.  When I removed the heads, and looked inside the heads thru the neck, I saw two cylindrical bumps of plastic covering the eyes!!  I already purchased replacement eyes thinking I could just heat the head, pop out the old eyes and insert the new ones from inside the head by gluing them in place.  I'm a newbie so if anyone has any suggestions on how to replace eyes on these dolls, I'd be most grateful.  Thanks-Jaden

Jayden, You can heat the head with a hair dryer and pop the eyes out or warm her with hot water if this doesn't help get them out, just use scalpel to cut accross inside the head and take them out throught the back.

Thanks June M!!!  Am I to assume then that to insert new eyes on the same doll I would insert them thru the hole I slit inside the head and should I assume that I need to replace glue around the edge of the new eyes so they will stick in place?  I'm asking because I've never inserted eyes before!  Thanks much-Jaden

Jayden, You can do either, if inserting from the back, one of the girls on the forum said she used a paint brush to hold the flap open, to insert from the back, once in position make sure the light spots are in he same place on both eyes. If you haven't painted doll, and have stripped old paint off, Make sure you ash it in warm suddsy water and dry properly before you paint.
