I don't think many reborners purple wash the inside anymore because of the risk of 'bruising'. I usually colour the pellets/glass beads for the limbs. For the head, I line with purple felt. You get the same effect with no risk of bruising.
Just glue the felt to the inside of the face area. You can try different colours for different effects; black gives very deep undertones, dark blue, purple, lilac etc.......just take a pic of the baby without the felt, then insert each colour in turn and take a pic, then compare it to the one without the felt. I love the effect dark blue gives to a very newborn baby. To colour your pellets/glass beads (NOT the very fine, sand-like beads), take an old plastic bowl and put your pellets in, then add a squeeze of acrylic paint to match the colour of the felt used to line the head. Don't add too much paint at first, you can always add more if needed. A squirt about 2" long will coat a load of pellets. Mix thoroughly with an old spoon making sure that all the beads get covered with paint. You can either spread them out on a baking tray and leave to dry naturally, or use a hairdryer. Make sure they're completely dry by patting with a white paper towel. If any are stuck together, just break them up with your fingers. Then use as normal.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY THE POLY AND GLASS BEADS? AS YOU CAN TELL I HAVE YET TO ATTEMPT A REBORN. I DO HAVE EVERYTHING ORDERED AND IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR THEM TO ARRIVE.
Poly pellets, can be bought from a plastic bag manufactuer, you would have to search the phone book in your closest area, for 50 kg bags. I guess the same would apply for glass beads , from glass maker or ceramic supplies. June M from Oz
