I use the premixed lip color, either in the peaches n cream or strawberry n cream set. They are both just fine for me. You don't need any thinner or anything, you just use it right out of the jar and put on a VERY thin layer, bake, and if you want them darker just put on another VERY thin layer and bake.
Take a look at my Phoebe in Artist Showcase under multi dolls thread. I have used 2 tiny layers on her lips and she's good to go. Just have to give em a little satin shine.
