How do YOU get a mottled look on your babies?

I wanted to take a 'poll' of sorts.  What tools and techniques do you all use to get that mottled newborn look?  Also, are there some things you have tried that haven't worked?  I think this will be very helpful to all of us.

My own method (and I've only Genesis painted one baby) is different than most, I'm sure.  I tried the cosmetic sponge, and while it worked okay, it didn't give the effect I was looking for.  So I got a cheap childs paintbrush.  It has really hard, stiff bristles.  I dipped it just a little bit in the premixed paints, and then I 'splattered' (wrong word) it on the baby.  I went over it a few times with a 'pouncing' motion, and got a nice mottled look.  I did this with the flesh tones and with the blush.  I really like the look, but I'm sure there are other great techniques, maybe easier than mine.  So, what are they?

I've not done reborning myself..

but I have heard a fan brush or a stencil brush can work really well for this... the fan you use sideways, and the stencil brush the same way you would usually use it, but don't load your brush... just use a bit.

I've also heard people use sea sponges (but they can get exxy), kitchen sponges, etc...

Oh yes, sorry... expensive (exxy). :) Proper sea sponges are great great great for mottling (have done it with other painting) but they are expensive so you need to take care of them - but they can be used over and over again... :)

they do suck up the liquid though...

Hello!
I've been surfing for tutorials all over the place, and a few suggested using the berry maker tools with the tips just slightly trimmed off, so they have a flat end. Then use a couple of different flesh colours.
The dolls have that new baby mottled look to them.

Linda I know I haven't done it in Genesis yet but when I went to the suppliers house, she sold me an size 12  educational brush They have ineven tips so that only some of the bristles stick out, when you dip the paint on, you use a round holey sponge to take off most of the excess, leaving blotchy bits, then you dab it with a facial sponge. After you have heat set ,you can do it again as many times as you like to get the desired effect. You don,t have to waste the paint on the sponge as you can use it to do an all over wash, does that sound what your looking for. Also here in Oz we have $2 shopsfrancheville 582 brissle size 12.weirdfaceJune M from Oz

Thanks for the information once again. Really appreciated.
I was working at the college closeby for the last few weeks and haven't had a chance to reply to your message.
Cheers,  Linda in B.C.

I'm working with Genisis for the first time today and I used acetone to remove some eyebrow colour that I had fire onto her cheek, I learnt my lesson today not to do that again as I almost had her head finished with eyebrows and painted bottom lashes, oh well tomorrow is another day, if at first you don't succeed try, try again. I can't get the hang of the berry tool. I've tried, and it doesn't look right. So, I just gave up and get pretty good blotch going on with my sponge, for flesh and blush
