I wanted to do a reborn for my 6 year old niece for her birthday, it was a play doll but as i just had a baby and she is obsessed with it i wanted it to be as real as possible so i started googeling my butt off, i didnt want to go all out for weeks so i decided to do one in a day with nothing but my watercolour pencils and acrylic paint for the inside....let me know what you think .....also....this is my first ever reborning. PS - i am still waiting for my eyelashes and wig to arrive in the mail so thats what its missing. please feel free to ask any questions
Rachael, Welcome to the forum ,you have done a nice job using water colours, I use ink at the moment, but am waiting on Genesis paints to do my next Secrists Pheobe.Did you heat set the pencils seeing they are on vynal and did you use a matt finish. By the way you are only a short distance from one of my daughters, and about a hour from the other two.June M from Oz
Hi June no i didnt, should I? i have no idea how or if i needed to, so far the colours wont move at all and i have read that water colours fade a bit, i compensated for that and went a bit darker as such. so if it lightens it should (hopefully) still look good. I find i am more confident using water colour pencils. i shaved the pencil into a bowl and tapped my finger in the bowl and rubbed it on, and if it didnt look right a quick wipe with a wet makeup sponge within a minuite and it was gone. after about 5mins you couldnt do anything it was there to stay, so im hoping it stays that way - as long as my niece doesnt bath it haha
Samantha lives with me at Glenwood near Gympie, but goes home some weekends to Caboulture, Rachel lives in Maroochydore, and Tamara lives in Nambour, ahe has been doing some in ink and sold the few she has made, also taught a couple how to use ink.June M from Oz
wow- a very impressive result for using only watercolours. What happens if it gets wet though?? i think putting it in the oven could help the colourings be absorbed a little more into the vinyl, so if you do have the chance to it couldn't hurt.
I'm sure your niece is going to be thrilled to have her very own almost real baby.
you have done an amazing job and with watercolour pencils of all things.
