Hi, It's been a while since I visited the forum but I have a couple of questions. I use the baby tears on the lips of my newborns but I find that it is leaving the lips sticky. It seems like it doesn't dry on the baby's mouth especially if I use a pacifier. I always put a small piece of felt on the magnet on the pacifier to prevent the mouth from being scratched up, but the baby tears seem to collect little pieces of fuzz. It seems like the wet lips never dry. I wondered if anyone else was having this problem or if you could suggest something. I allow plenty of time for the liquid to dry and really don't put it on overly thick. Any help will be appreciated.
I also have a question about the one of the techniques used in the Special Reborn Technique - Part 1. When Michelle Barrow-Belisle is mixing the first coat to go on the ethnic baby color she says to use glazing gel but the little container she is using says medium extender. It is a little confusing. I want to try her technique but I want to clarify that it's glazing gel that should be used and not the extender medium. Can you please verify this for me?
Hi. I was talking about this with my reborning friend only a couple of days ago. We both use baby tears and she has the same problem as you but I don't. I'm guessing that you use it too thickly so it isn't drying. I only ever apply 2 very thin coats and it dries lovely and not sticky at all. If you are trying the drool affect maybe build up the coats.
Frances, Pumpkin has the right of it. I apply the paper glaze with a fine brush in a very thin layer, let it dry overnight, and then repeat the process. As everyone knows by now, I'm not your "normal" reborn artist so I often do things a little differently. So... I put a small puddle of glaze on my the back of my left hand and use that as a base from which to paint on the glaze. You can also use GHSP glazing medium to create the same effect... if you don't mind buying an extra pot of medium.
