I just finished rooting my Jacob by Shawna Clymer. I've glued the hair inside and decided to go ahead and give him lashes while it is drying. I completely ruined the first lash. Then I remembered that someone told me the key to gluing lashes on open eyed babies is to apply the glue to the lash, not where you are gluing it to! So the second eye went as smooth as could be. Thankfully I had 3 sets of lashes so I had a spare set! I glued the lash on the eye that I had messed up on first, no problems! So: when gluing eyelashes to an opened eye doll, glue goes on lashes, then apply! Whew!
Loves, I learned that lesson as well.... but you could have saved your lashes if you had just waited for the glue to get tacky and then stuck the lashes on. After that I usually put in a little liquid paper... baby tears... to give the eyes the damp look and help secure the lashes as well. Just run your paint brush right up against the lashes and pull a thin coat over they eye. It get easier... I promise!

its a good idea to use a damp cotton bud to wipe away the excess glue sometimes ive found this can leave what i call a smudge mark if that happens i have found using aileens paper glaze to cover the whole eye usualy makes that smudge dissapear some times i use alot and it gives the bub a beautiful wet/cry look hope this helps hun (((hugs)))

We've all made that mistake! It's part of the learning process. I bet if we all added up the money that we've thrown away on "mistakes" we could each get a couple of new doll kits!! But then we wouldn't have learned anything or have anything to share with others... Even mistakes are good learning tools.

It was actually a 15 year old on another forum who taught me how to do eyelashes! I was so frustrated I posted and she told me how to do it and it worked! I do so *few* open eyed babies that I completely forgot until I ruined an eyelash!
