I finished my very first beneuger baby! WHEW! Sanding those line took forever! I was going to sell her but when I finished her I fell in love. Been playing with her and dressing her up ever since. I named her Ariel.
Tina, I have to agree with Ronel about your Ariel. The rooting looks wonderful, and it's easy to see why you fell in love with her. After all that work you went through to get rid of the ridge lines, I'm glad she turned out to be such a beautiful baby.

Hello Ladies! I am so excited to introduce you to my new baby girl Riley! I have been working on her for 2 1/2 weeks and finished her up on Wednesday. She was born Sept. 2, 2009 at 8:40pm. My children sat around me anxiously waiting to see her completed. Once she was dressed my youngest insisted that we take the 20 min. ride to grandma and grandpa's house (at 10:00pm!) to show off our newest edition to the family. Here are some pics of her in progress and then finished. When I was taking some of these pics in my back yard, my neighbor was looking on. I didn't know until later when another neighbor of mine asked me about "the new baby". When I showed them baby Riley they were astonished! They could not believe how real she looked. The one who watched as I took pics said she thought I had a baby and wanted to ask me to see her. The other neighbor thought I was coming out of the house with a real baby. She was so impressed she told me she wanted me to show her husband when he came home from work. She said she would tell him someone had left a baby on my door step. An hour after he arrived home, she asked me to show her husband the baby. She said she didn't say what she planned but talked about it the whole ride home (he later confirmed that the baby was all she talked about all the way home. How he wouldn't believe it!). I brought her outside and to my surprise there were four people waiting to see her. All with eyes wide open as I approached They all were in disbelief that she was a doll. They gave me many compliments and then called to another woman in the house to come out and see. With her came three other women all ooooing and ahhhing over this new little one in my arms. Needless to say I was very happy that they were so convinced she was real until they actually looked very closely. One of their little girls still believes she's a real baby. What was even more was when they told me it was hard to believe she was my first I have ever done. I just think I did an okay job and am pleased with my first newborn baby. My son thinks she is so cool Like my neighbors, I love holding her because she does feel so real and cuddly. She weighs 7lbs. 4oz. and is the Lucy sculpt by Marissa May of BB. Please let me know your honest opinions of what you all think. Here is baby Riley.
Emily... congrats on new baby, Riley, and creating a disturbance in the neighborhood. LOL. It really had to feel good to know Riley was being mistook for a real baby. Way to go!

Tina she is adorable! God bless you on the rooting. Well done! Having done it now, I know how hard it can be and you have done a wonderful job. I also know now how it feels to want to hold them and dress them. I just feel funny when I realize I'm playing with her! LOL But they are so cute! I wish you the best on many more to come.
Thanks Linda. I am pleased with the way she looks. Thanks to Authentic Reborn paints and the help I received all of you wonderful ladies that offered me advice I was able to make a decent baby. Of course she is by no means perfectly done the way I hoped but she did come out better than I thought she would. Especially since I made her chalky in the beginning. I took notes as I made her so hopefully my next one will come out better. Now I can't wait to start on my next one.
Ohhhhh Dee.... you did a great job on your very first baby. She is beautiful. It is so nice if people appreciate your hard work and I can see it shows on your baby! Well done and enjoy her.
I am so very impressed with the job you did on the hands/palms and nails! Most people, including newbies don't get it right for a while. Yours look really good! Making a darker-skintoned baby can be a real challange, even for seasoned artists. :)
Thank you so much Ronell that means alot, I don't sell my babies yet but I show my photos and everyone asked if I adopted another child, then I tell them they are dolls then they are shocked, I like seeing their faces when I tell them, that makes me feel good. Hugs
Thank you so much Emily, I love your baby she has lots of pretty hair, how long did it take to do her hair, I love her color, you go girl you did a nice job.
Thanks so much, her hair took me a day and a half to do. I was so intimidated to root her hair but once I started and got the hang of it I was fine. Then half way through it started getting all matted around her face. I didn't know what to do, so I then started to comb her hair as I went along. Next time I want to buy a smaller gauge needle and better mohair. I can see some of the holes in her little head Thankfully she has alot of hair so it's not that noticable. I'll also take my time and try to plan out how I want the next style to be. However, your little ones are great too! Pat, thanks for the complilment, I really appreciate that from you too. I see my mistakes like, I went too dark on the area just below the nail bed. Hopefully next time I'll do it better.
Hi all I wanted to tell you all that I entered Sweet Peace in monthly competition and won Best Artist Of The Month and it is so darn exciting I just wanted to share. I do hope this is Ok with you all. Dolly hugs to all Cherry
I know the hair can get matted while rooting, I use a hair net to cover the part that's rooted that works fine for me, everyone has their ways of doing things, do what works for you.

Each time it gets better.... A day and a half to root all that gorgeous hair is not long at all. You should be proud of yourself.

Dee Your babies are beauitful. You really know how to make the air dry paints work for you. I've only done one baby with them and she was my first. I had problems with shininess but I can see you do have that problem at all.
Thank you Tina, I have not had a problem with shininess, I use paints from B-n-B I love using them, I have been using them for a year, before that I use oils and dyes.
I am sooo Excited to Introduce to everyone!!! Robin Marie she was formaly a Zoe by Pat Secrist. She weighs a 1lb. 2oz. she was born on September 13,2009 @ 10:00PM.. Everyone stayed up at my house a full 2 hours. She has 7 layers in total. My mom was sooo excited that this morning she got up early to dress little Robin Marie. I actually finished her yesterday but because my mom wanted her actual birth date to be September 13 that was The Grandfathers birthday... so it was very sentimental for her. I absolutely had the most fun in doing this baby and I think I am going to do another one very soon... Please let me know what you think...

Congrats on the birth of your Robin Marie! I can just feel your excitement so I think you may be hooked on newborning like the rest of us.
She is so tiny and cute that I feel like she needs a smaller pacifier so it doesn't cover her little nostrils. LOL.
My one suggestion would be to practice eyebrow strokes to place slightly less emphasis on them.
Again, congrats!!!!!

Congrats on Robin Marie! She is so cute and I know how it feels to see her being born. It is expecially lovely when family members share in your happiness. Best Wishes to you and Robin Marie!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH... IT WAS REALLY GREAT AND FUN... I DID PRACTICE DOING THE EYEBROWS AND I ALSO MADE LITTLE MARKS FOR ME TO LET ME KNOW HOW FAR APART. I SUPPOSE WITH TIME AND LOTS MORE PRACTICE WILL HELP. YOU KNOW I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER FOR A SMALLER PACI. BUT I JUST COULDN'T FIND ONE. AND I ALSO THINK THAT IT'S THE ANGLE OF THE PICTURE AS WELL. BUT THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS I REALLY APPERICIATE IT.... TALK LATERS....
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A SMALLER PACI?

Hey... no worries. You should have seen my first eyebrows. On second thought.... nope, it wouldn't have been pretty. LOL.
I have 4 unfair advantages when it comes to eyebrows. Their names are Katy (granddaughter), Cassie and Addie (niece's ID twins), and Lilly (niece's baby). Amazingly, my two nieces (sisters) had their babies within 24 hours of each other so watching their development is fascinating.
The other thing that really helps with eyebrows is the eyebrow brush that Secrist sells. I know people who could not do eyebrows well until they purchased that brush.
I'm not sure what size paci you have now, but I've saw preemie pacifiers at the Target store. I bet they have them at places like Babies R Us and other stores, too. If the preemie pacifier is too big, then what? Anyone have any ideas?

I plan on never giving up at all..... I am going to keep practicing until I get them the way they should look. My mom loves her little preemie. I am proud that I accomplished such a big project such as reborning/newborning. I absolutely love it... Anyways I never thought about target or babies r us. I will check it out and let you guys know..... Later BYES!!!

You are very welcome! When it comes to the eyebrows, I look at my children's baby pics and also baby magazines. There are alot of close-up pictures of lovely babies there to get an idea of what you want to do with the brows. Then I get a pencil and very lightly (but enough that I can see) put dots in the shape of the eyebrows and fill them in. This time I'm working on a baby and I've rooted her brows. Hummmm not sure about that She kinda looks wierd But anyhoo I'm still finishing her up. I'll put her pics up when finished. The paci I bought from Walmart for $3. It is the newborn one and it works well. I shopped around at alot of stores and this one fit the best. Like Play Days said, you can try the preemie paci also and see what works. For me the preemie was too small and didn't quite fit my baby's face. I hope this helps
Every little advice and suggestions help.... Just found out that my mom is buying my baby parts for me for christmas. So My next one will be working on soon.. I Have been shopping around. Haven't found one that I like. But I am sure with a little presisants I can find what I am looking for. Yeah I tried to hand root my eyebrows but I didn't like the end result.. So I took it out and I hand did them instead... But I like them a little "Bam" out there cause of her skin being a little dark... SO I thought the next one would be Barely there look... I have to run but Talk later...

Emily, I look at lots of baby photos, too. It is so helpful to see the skin, eyebrows, etc. of "real" babies. Thanks for the suggestions.

I was so thankful when the head didn't cave in and her hair came out better. I think I found my niche . bye!P.S.~I want to hear what you think of her. She was a former Zoe Preemie~by Pat Secrist. She is a lighter shade of the first one. Still a Native American Indian. I am glad to mention i am working on my 3rd one and it's a boy and he is not going to be Native American. I am almost done...

Hi Annette, thank you for the compliment, rooting is so time consuming but I take my time it takes me hours and hours sometime I get bored with it and it could be days before I pick it up again I use a size 40 needle with one barb, your baby is so cute she has lots of hair is it rooted or is a wig? Keep working on your rooting it will get better the more you do it I'm still not as good as I want to be but I am satisfied.

Love the big crocodile tears on your Lollipop. And, I like the way your Sunflower looks like a baby because a lot of times Sunflower looks older. Yours is cute, too, Dee. I like everything about her.
