Ok, so I have started on my new baby, a Zoe kit and she is looking very nice so far.  I do think I might have overdone the blotchieness a little.  Is there any way to tone this down just a tad?  I will try to post some links to pics, but my laptop is crashed right now, so maybe when that gets back up and running.  I am currently using the hubby's computer :)

Oh, btw, we just celebrated our first anniversary yesterday!  We are so happy!smile

Ok, I think this should work, sorry they are not the best pics.  She still needs her creses and wrinkels done, but  let me know what you think of her/him so far!

awwww Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!(((hugs))) to tone down your blotching you can use a very "thin" layer of your flesh tone to soften it a little If you havent baked it yet rember when using genesis it does lighten when you cook, if your bub is looking too pink or orange from the blotching then you could do a mint green or blue wash depending on the pinky or orangy colour its a bit hard without seeing a photo hope this helps (((hugs)))

Thanks! I did put another very thin layer of flesh 08 and it did tone it down some, I may just need to do one more layer like that. She is looking a little pale aside from the blotches, maybe iI should add a tiny bit of pink to the next thin layer? My new hard drive is formating right now so when that is up and running I will try to upload some pics to my shutterfly account.

Hi hun if you add another flesh layer she will be even more pale try mixing a tiny amount of raw sienna with thinners (very thin)and pounce around not completely covering her but like a two tone skin effect this is rather hard to explain but if you pounce it above the eyes and a little on her forhead the outer cheeks tip of her chin, tips of ears, the front of her legs and the heel a bit on her toes same with the arms top arms and end of her fingers a little on palms, as you pounce do it a little at a time and feather it in with a stencil brush so it blends in well with the rest of her skin tones, it really gives a lovely skin effect, after youve done that i usualy put a wash over the entire sculpt depending on how red or orange etc is depending on what colour wash hope this helps ((((hugs)))

Thanks! I did do something similar (I did not have any raw sienna, so I used my blush paint toned down with flesh 08 and thinned way down) and this seems to have given me a nice overall skin tone. I need to decide now if I should go back and re-blush her cheeks and chin but I am going to come back to her tomorrow and see what I think about that. I just don't want her to get too red! No sunburned babies! I have had enough trouble with my babies and the heat lol!

Hi hun,
Glad you found those hints helpful. If you need to colorcorrect, get yourself a nice colorwheel. It works great when you can find the right color for the job.
The only other thing "I" might suggest is toning down her/his lips. They appear (in the photo) to be a very intense red. Babies lips should be soft in color. Although it also could be my computer monitor (colors look different on some monitors).

Are you using Genesis? If so, you can use a couple of layers of flesh 08 or 07. Make it thin and try just one layer at a time. Also, be sure to look at this bub in natural daylight, not direct sunlight but indirect. That will give you the best natural picture of what it really looks like. Our home lighting is not the best for colors. I had to get a special lamp.

my take is you've done well - esp your veining, not to bright or pronunced, very natural looking so well done. Her lips seem to over powering to me in the pic's, you said you lightened up her blushing in general did you do the lips also?

can't wait to see the next instalmnet of pic's your doing well.

I did try to tone down his/her lips a little, but they are still very bright. Pat, did you mean that I could add a thin layer of flesh 08 to the lips to tone them down? If that is the case I might try that. Thanks for your kind and honest comments ladies!

Ok, I figured out that I used the wrong paint for the lips! I just used my regular blush paint for the lips instead of the actual lip paint that came in my set. Can I take that paint off the lips with goof-off and apply the lip color instead?

You are welcome for the critique. :)

First try just a color correction: on the colorwheel, the opposite of red is green. Take a little flesh 08 with a tiny spot of pthalo green, mix well, apply to the lips (thinned of course) and see what happens. It may lighten enough that you won't need to strip the lips. You can use several light coats of this color.

If it doesn't work to your satisfaction, yes, you can use goof-off but at your own risk! It is very hazardous stuff and Secrist does not recommend use of it at all (neither do I from experience!!!!!!). What you can use is acetone, not the commercial stuff but the stuff for fingernails (at least that stuff you can use on humans!) or Secrist plastic cleaner:  http://www.secristdolls.com/inc/sdetail/37958

If you use the acetone, be sure to immediately wash with hot sudsy water to remove the residue. To use it take a cotton bud (Qtip) and soak it with acetone. Roll it over the lips and let it sit for a moment, then lightly wipe it off. Do not rub, just wipe, then use another one. keep doing this until all/most of the color is gone. But I would try the color correction first.
