thought i'd start a thread and link in my current ebay actions - basically i'll make a new post in this thread whenever i have a new baby listing.
so to start is my latest baby "Bryony" who was birth from "Summer" by Mylene Swertz. I loved this kit so much i ordered a second to make a baby from for myself to keep. Listing link below
its so difficult to decide on a baby to list right now, i want to keep all of them for the show. But i need some money coming in while i stock pile for the exhibit. I hope the sales go well with this show/fair thing, b/c i'm scrimping by in the mean time inorder to have the maximum number of babies possible for the event.
IT,s beautiful, you should do very well. I,m going to start to list on ebay soon. Once I get this forum right and some realy nice clear photo,s. I am getting better. All my photo were from the phone because the camera was playing up.June M from Oz.
What eyes and what color did you use for her eyes hun? They are simply mezmerizing. I don't usually get like that over eyes but there's just something about those. I dont know if it's the color, or the shape of her eyelids or what but WOW!
And I really like the job you did on the little boys hair. Nice going! :)
Buffington- i use masterpiece eyes, i can't remember exactly which ones these were as i ordered a whole bunch of different colours esp in the blues and then got them mixed up and couldn't remember which of the blues where which.
I do love masterpiece eyes though - they look really natural with their irus patterns and they have such a stunning and wide range of colours. I think this is one of the let downs with the secrist eyes, they have such few colours... maybe you can suggest to head office they think about adding a wider range of colours to their inventory.
LoveD- i look forward to seeing pic's of your own Jacob sculpt - did you keep it a boy or change it to a girl??
I'm feeling a little dissappointed, only 6hrs to go till my (Joel) auction ends and i've no bids and only 11 watches. I'm use to having around 40 watches and usually some bids by now - at the very least an opening bid. Its been so long since i've had a baby not go at auction that it actually feels really awful that this one might not go.
Any critique on things i might think to change with this little man would be great. I think his eyelashes are a let down I've run out of the lighter shades and the ones he has are too dark esp given his blonde hair.
Hmmm, Joel just doesn't grab me the way so many of your other babies do. Maybe it's because the eyes are so dark and the baby is very pale? Anyway, you are still doing far better than I am with Ebay sales. Maybe the right buyer will come along and grab him.
Naomi may i ask why you put him under reborn and not OOAK/ artist offerings? i have found my sales sore under OOAK thats where most look hun might be worth relisting under that one? ive noticed the reborn section is mainly clothing ,sculpts ,acccesories etc i know my customers always look under ooak before they will go to reborn just a thought (((hugs)))

to be honest i'm not so taken with Jole myself... the shape of his face just, well isn't a favourite. i think he'd be better if his face ended at the chin line - instead it extends allot more with the second chin out into the jaw line... with his other features being so delicate i think this throughs the ballance of his face off.
oh i didn't know that TinyEA... ok i'll try that one in future. I guess i just figuered that being a reborn it should go in the reborn categorie. I've double list in the OOAK/artist offerings and the reborn section previously but then it doubles all the fee's - 2 subtitle fees, 2 featured fees(if you are using that option) etc. I'll switch over in future and see what happends
the well known artists nursery's are under the OOAK section hun when i do a listing in the featured section i only do it under ooak/artist offerings because of the fees but sometimes i just put a normal listing in both reborn and ooak if that make sense, once your nursery is well known you dont need the featured section much im almost there now myself its taken a year to get there though hehehe

i guess i just never considered this as when i search to look at others babies i just type in "reborn" in the main search field and don't even go in through the categorie listings so i never noticed that other known artisits sell in the ooak/artist offerings section instead as they all come up when i search the main field with keyword "reborn".
Doh... well i thank you to the moon and back for bringing this to my attention.
i've revised Joels listing - he's now listed in the artist offerings/ooak as well. I've only 3 hrs to go on him... but lets hope it might make a difference having him listed in that section also.
Joel didn't sell but i never was quite happy with him and i should have listened to myself on that. So i've decided to order a smaller eye size - the current ones leave only irus showing and not much whites which make them seem very very dark and squinty. So i'm going to go with a slightly lighter blue but in a smaller size also. And while i'm at it i'll replace his eyelashes with blonde ones.
I knew i should have waited for some lighter lashes - mother told me he looked fine the way he was, but i knew it was odd to have dark lashes on a snow-white blondie.
Actually its probably good he didn't sell, as if i'm not happy with him i shouldn't expect others to settle for less than my best.
in the mean time i do need to chose another baby to sell, but i just can't chose... i want to keep all of them for my exhibit. and i have to be honest i did chose to list him as he wasn't a fave and it was due to me cutting corners using eyes that are too big and using wrongly matched eyelashes.
I loved him, and I always put brown eyelashes on my dolls it seems to fram their eyes. All of my grandchildren have light blond hair and dark long lashes as soon as they are born.June M
brown would have been better, but these were black!
I do often go a shade darker with my blonde babies so the eyes are still framed -- or sleeping babies defined (i usually root blonde sleepers with a dark blonde or light brown).
but i think one of the biggest let downs with Joel was the eye size... i'll post before's and after's in the artist showcase and see what difference it makes and maybe even set a pole to see what others think. I have a feeling it will make a big difference, but it'll probably take till wed before i get the supplies (and thats asking for express, if i left it to regular mail it takes a full week). It can be frustrating to be so isolated here in Perth from even aussie supplies - they're all over east.
I would definitely change the lashes. Like you said, they are too dark for a light haired baby. You may also want to try selling him as a girl next time (if you don't get any bids).
Right now my Jacob is dressed as boy because the only outfit I owned that was small enough for him was a boy outfit. I plan to dress him as a girl, as well. I just have to find the outfit for him! I thought my mom bought me two preemie size petite Ami's for my birthday last year. I'm only finding the boy one, though. This doll is going into an art auction at church in September. By then I'll have made an outfit for "her" if I'm happy with it I'll auction her off in it. It is just a matter of finding the right outfit. And I'm not willing to give up my outfits my mom gave me.
Funny thought, part of me help s/he doesn't sell because I think that this is the best job I've done painting/rooting a baby!

LovesD - Target has got some great preemie outfits out reciently which is what i dressed Joel in... and even the outfit my "Zoe" (boy) is in was a Target "baby petits". I know you guys have Target, but i'm not sure if they carry the same product ranges. Just thought i'd mention so you don't have to part with the Ami Petits.
I might dress him (Joel) as a girl and see what i think - i just used my last preemie girl outfit on my gumdrop but i can always just try him in a few that other babies are currently wearing just to see... although i've already pulled his eyes out.
I've already ordered new eyes for him, they might get to me by tuesday... express is ment to be overnight, but thats dependent on the person i ordered from getting to the post office before 2pm on monday - otherwise they wont get here till weds.
I can get really impatient when i have ideas... i hate being stuck waiting on mail. Patiences is a virtue and all that but *grrrrahh* i have none!! LOL
ooh on another note... i finished my secrist Acorn today... but i'm out of joints so i'll not get her assembled now till monday.
I have "missy", "lollipop" and "sparow" still to do and i also have a Jonas by DD.
Our Targets do not *yet* carry preemie size clothes. I live across the street from one and seem to be there about once a day. I'll look on line though and see what I can find!
I also have Jonas from DD. I've painted it but am not happy with the limbs. I'll eventually get Ariella's limbs and see if I like them better for her (I've already named her Juliette). My Sparrow is waiting until I can figure out how to paint a dark skinned baby. So far I've not gotten a satisfactory tutorial that I'm willing to try.
LovesD - what don't you like about the Jonas limbs? I've ordered these limbs and used on my Elly Knoops heads in the past and liked them allot.
I don't like the new elly knoops limbs - the vinyl mix was horrid and became really rubber'y and stickie when baked. I don't know if they've changed this since as it was when they were first released with the Hannah that i tried them and hated them so much that i threw them out. I've done a few luca's and hannah's and tried a few different limb sets but think the Eva's Jonas limbs are nicest when it comes to the limb sets available from DD.
They didn't paint well and the lines weren't well defined. I may way to make any decisions about them until I'm able to get the thinner you suggest. I may then just strip them and start over. The head painted well but not the limbs.
i woke in the middle of the night and remembered that i did in fact have a set of smaller eyes that came in a sculpt i did a while back - they were gray so i changed them to a blue and forgot all about them. So i got up in the wee hours and searched them out - as i couldn't get back to sleep till i'd found them and had a look at them in his head. They were a much better fit.
I decided to do some re-working of his face though before re-shooting and listing him. I didn't strip him back but i did re-work much of his face. I raised his eyebrow line, and added in some shading to create the effect of eyelids -- i found this sculpt lacked any real depth or shaping above the eye and b/c of this i think i initially made his brow line too low.
I put on lighter coloured lashes and inserted the new eyes... here is his new listing. Would love to hear what ppl think now that i reworked him -- i'm much happier with him myself, and feel more at peace with listing him and putting my name to him.
lol -- yeah would you believe i didn't even notice TinyEA pointed it out a week or so ago. I need to do up a new logo anyway as the current one is with some of my earlier babies.
