Gather sculpting supplies!

I bought a pasta machine from Joann's today for $10! On sale, normally $25. I totally did not go in there to buy one, just to see what supplies I need that they have and since it was 2/5th the regular price, I figured I better grab one! For my birthday my husband is getting me the components I need for sculpting -- That, the palette knives, and sculpting clay I can buy locally. The rest I'll have to get on line. I mean, he'll have to get online! I don't plan on starting until December (when my birthday is) but I want every thing together when December gets here!

WOW! That's very exciting for you. One day I'd like to go into sculpting also. Congratulations and all the very best with your sculpting endeavours!

I'm excited for you Loves! I bet you'll do great too. And if your first attempts don't turn out, I'm sure Naomi from Precious Lullabies will be happy to lend you her hammer. laughing.gif

*giggles*

Yeah i think i paid $34 for my pasta maker/roller so you really scored on the sale.

the verdic is that apparently pro-sculpt is better to use then sculpey - so tell your hubbie that. however i've not tried it yet myself.

I'm doing a craft show the 1st-3rd of Aug so am focusing only on getting babies made, and no time for playing with sculpting right now, but i do intend to get back to it after then show, I'll let you know what i think of pro-sculpt then.

I need to focus on ROOTING! YIKES! I have to have one rooted before August 1st for my mom's b-day. One in September for an auction. I want to get Guppy rooted ASAP so I can design her fairy costume and figure out what kind of wings she is going to get! Juliette (sculpt-Jonas) can wait if necessary until my next round of rooting after October. As soon as my instructions arrive I'm going to paint Sparrow so I can get her rooted. I have a co-worker who maybe wants a African-American baby by Christmas and I want to make sure I can deliver the quality for her!

I guess that is part of the reason I won't start playing with the sculpting until December!

I'm getting RSI on the rooting!!! in the last three days i've rooted 3 heads -- on so the one i just finished now is a tiny little preemie, the one i did yesterday was on the small side though not a preemie, the one i did saturday was a large head though and asides from the preemie they all have quite thick locks.

back to painting in the morning maybe that will give my arm a rest - the muscles down the top side of my forarm are really sore!!!

I can't wait to see your little Guppy with her fairy costume -- i've not done any fairy babies myself as yet but you'll have to post some links to her pics for sure!!!

I will definitely! If my Guppy turns out the way I hope she does I plan to submit them for the gallery! I was looking at the Gallery pics of Guppy and the regular ones and all but one or two are horrible, imo!

OOOOO, I'm glad you put the IMO but it would have been better for all if you had said something like:
...but they are not to my liking... it's really not polite to use "horrible" without insulting or hurting someone's feelings. The people who did those may think they are absolutely marvelous and did a great job. Or it may be someone's first.
I know I would be greatly hurt and offended if someone said that about my babies. There is a way to play nice with others.

I'm sure you didn't mean to offend anyone.

Sorry, you are right. I would go back and edit but apparently the edit key turns off after a while smile.gif Can you fix it? Other forums I've been on mods can delete parts of posts... And now that I think about it, isn't the doll itself I didn't like, it is the way it is dressed! The XXXXXXXX doll is cute, but the clothes, were, erm, not to my liking! ;)

P.S. Believe it or not, the way a doll is dressed does affect the likelihood of it being sold!

Thank you for looking at your post and playing nice. I knew you didn't mean to offend anyone.

Yes, I agree, the way a doll is dressed can also affect the way others see it. And sometimes that also influences a purchase or lack thereof. It's all a matter of taste (both how the doll is done & the clothing/accessories). But it is nice that I didn't have to send you to your room ideabiggrin!!
Again, thank you

(The post is real, only the name of the doll has been changed to protect the innocent!) hehehe

Thanks for giving me a warning before sending me to my room. Isn't it funny how we see the "whole picture" and don't like something when all it really is is something superficial? Like how the doll is dressed? I really didn't realize it was her clothes I didn't like until you said something!
