Now I have reached the point where I'm going to put on my first blushing layer and I already have a question about that... Often I have mixed too little paint and run out of it, before I've finished my blushing layer. Now I was wondering, if I made a bigger portion, how can I storage the mixet painting??? On the DVD's I've been watching, they always say, that you should use a porcelain palette to mix the paint and not one of plastic. But I also seen, that they have some of their already mixet paints kept in a plastic bottle. I can't understand, that when you mix your genesis paint, you should use porcelain and not plastic, but how can I then use plastic bottles to keep the finished mixet paint? Hope you can understand my question.. Hope someone can help me with advice about that. Waiting so much for your answer.
Well this is what I do. I mix my paint that I'm going to use in a glass baby food jar. You can buy the jars that the paint comes in also that would be anther way to be able to store your paint. But that is what I do.
I use a ceramic or glass dish for my paints. The palette is way too small. You can mix a much larger amount. The Genesis paints last forever, essentially. I had colors mixed in several of my dishes in February and pulled them off the shelf and used them at the end of May and in June! Just had to add my thinner that had evaporated. Just needed to cover them to keep the dust out. ;)
Yes, Genesis and Secrist suggest that you mix in a porcelain (or ceramic/glazed) container or dish like our paint palette, not metal or plastic. The bottles you see used are specifically made for this type of paint. Also, the little jars are not plastic but a kind of acrylic that is made for paints like the Genesis. Not all plastics are created equal. I will add links here for the bottles and the jars to store your paints in after you mix them up. And yes, I did understand what you were saying :)
