Hello, please could you tell me how you package your babies when sending them through the post? I am selling for the first time on ebay and want to get this right! Do you bubble wrap your bubbas and all the other items that go with them? And if so what do you surround them with in the box? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Since this is your first I recommend you go to a UPS Store or something similar to have them package the baby for you. Do not use anything that has printing on it to wrap around the baby (such as newspaper or plastic bags from super markets). The ink WILL rub into the vinyl and ruin the doll. No good! LOL Using bubble wrap is alright, but it can rub the vinyl and give it shiny spots. I recommend you use Styrofoam peanuts to package the baby and these are always available at the UPS Store or similar shipping stores. Wrapping a clear plastic bag, very loosely, over the face will help to protect the eyelashes. Using a hair net will also help hold the baby's hair style in place. We sell receiving blankets that are perfect for wrapping the baby in and give the "new mom" a feeling of receiving a REAL baby!
When I send my mom's to her for her birthday I will wrap it just like you would a newborn in a blanket then place her in a box. I haven't decided if I will wrap her in bubble wrap or place her in styrofoam peanuts. Since I'm not selling her to someone it is a little different. But I like the idea of wrapping them like a newborn in a receiving blanket.
I get the tough sturdy mailing boxes, then using cable ties i strap my babies down. I'll use a pair of small'ish sissors and poke a hole through the bottom of the box either side of the neck, using a long cable tie i'll thread it from the inside of the box out through one of the holes on one side of the neck, i'll thread it from the outside back inside the box through the other hole which will bring the cable tie up the other side of the neck, then simply join it up an tighten under the dolls chin.
I'll repeat this round the upper arms and the ankles. Baby will now be very safe an secure - it wont budge at all even if you shake the box and throw it around.
the boxes are so strong that the ties don't pull/rip through, but you may want to put some gaffa tape or some other ellectrical tape over the cable ties on the outside/underside of the box so they don't get caught or anything.
I don't use any bubble wrapping or other packing - no risk of baby being marked or smushed this way.
When i was about to send my first baby in the post i thought about how dolls are packaged in the shops, they are always tied down and so this gave me the idea of using the cable ties. Everyone always comments when their babies arrive on how great the way i package my babies.
it means their hair doesn't get smooshed and messy either.
I use boxes by Uline.com the size is 20x8x8 Here are some attached pictures of how I do it. Hugs Debbie

Basically, the gifts change for each baby but all of the babies come home with three outfits, usually a custom outfit, a sleeper outfit and a play outfit, then the accessories for that, custom bracelet or necklace, blanket, faux bottle, 3 diapers, and a few surprise gifts lol. I probably go overboard lol but my customers seem to enjoy it
