rooting the triplets?

Hello,
I was just wondering if anybody rooted (one of) the triplets allready?

And if so, would you post a picture please?

I'm working on painting mine at the moment but will start to root them once my college classes (final exams) are done mid May. I'm so excited I can't wait much longer! clap.gif

Hi Pat,

I hope your final exams are going well /went well, so your mind is free to start the little ones.
I'm thinking of making them new bodies. The ones they come with are a little stiff for those tiny babies, they should be more flexible.

I just reborned my second 10" berenger baby (i had them for years) and only have the rooting to do.

Then I have my triplets waiting and 2 other Secrist kits.
I also do a lot of knitting and cochet work for all those babies.

I rooted my first "triplet" today... now I think I need a seeing eye dog!!  I just finished grading a couple of stacks of those finals that Pat B. was talking about.  Maybe I should have waited for my eyes to recover before rooting hair today.  I'm not in love with it, but it seems to have worked out okay.  Was going to ask Daan if she rooted her's or painted them?  Maybe she will tell us.
I also was not in love with the bodies, but found a solution with a crochet hook and some thread.  I've worked out a pattern to produce a body that is just the right size for the limbs and head and will still fit the clothing that came with the doll.  I'm working on the clothing too...  Now that classes are over (yipyip yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!)  clap.gifclap.gif I have plenty of time to work out some more patterns.

I haven't rooted them but I've rooted Anouk (my avatar) and she is just a little bigger. (10 inches). It pretty much works the same as any other doll.

Hi ladies,

I think I saw a pic of one of the triplets from Danielle and it had painted hair. It looked nice.
I think I will make my body from a good quality tricot, so it has a lot of give. I used the same kind for other babies I made from fimo.
I already started micro crocheting for the triplets, but I continue if I worked out the body.
At the moment I'm happy knitting a white set for my new-borned Taffy.

All done with my finals now and I have been relaxing alllll day because it was hectic! I only had 1 written final, all the other 4 classes were final projects! WHEW!!! Glad that's over!

Yes, Daan (Danielle) had painted them and I think they turned out adorable. (The prototypes sold for just over $400!).

The fabric is a little thick for the little bodies but I take it and squish it up and wrinkle it and roll it around in my hands and that seems to loosen it up some. I did tell Mr Secrist that the neck opening needed to be fixed and on the new triplets that come out in June it is fixed.

I have decided to sew my bodies closed in the back like Danielle meant them to be but not everyone sews. So thus the velcro. I do really like the fact that I can secure the limbs "inside" the body so the strings/tiewraps don't show at all!

LOL.  Yes, if they don't want images posted except as avatars then they should remove the function.

Nice crocheted bodies Pat C!!! They look like little crocheted onsies!

As far as the "image" thing here, we can't disable that by itself or no avatars, no advanced editor. You ladies will just have to read and go by the rules. I see no one's using the "you tube" link, sooooo..... (no don't do it just cause it's there)!

Okay, I promise to be good... at least some of the time. smile.gif  Can I still try out my paint colors on the grandkids?  Pleasseeeee!

Yeah, the "new" body does look like the baby is wearing a onesie.  I've done them in blue and pink as well as white.  Making matching hats, collars and slippers as well.  I'll try to put some photographs in my photobucket to link in... (the Proper way).

Have a good day, ladies!

I have a triplets question too - but it's about eyelashes - are there tiny eyelashes available? Do you hand-root eyelashes or paint them on?

I believe that Danielle painted the hair on her triplets, using the 3D eyebrow stuff. I have not used that 3D stuff, and I'd like to micro-root the triplets' hair. However - it's the eyelashes that have me stuck - can anybody help please?

That would be a programming issue, then. I read the rules but there is no way to recall every one of them. They may want to try and lighten up a bit with the moderation or the forum will end up being unsuccessful ;)

Yes, I guess it would be a programming issue.

We post the rules so no one has to "remember" them, just go back and refer to them if you have a question about them. And as for rules, we have the least amount of them (and I belong to a lot of forums).

I'm sorry if you have any issues regarding the moderation of our forum. ;)
We do the best we can. We restrict the photos in consideration of others who want to enjoy our forum but have slower connections (amongst other reasons). We have had a completely successful forum and had to upgrade.

I hand rooted the eyelashes in the tiny triplets that I did.  It was a little bit of a strain on the eyes, but they seem to have worked out okay.  One doll has blonde hair, another brown.  The biggest problem was trimming them down evenly.  It took a very bright light, my reading glasses, and a steady hand, not something I'm known for.  smile.gif  I'm almost tempted to do the last baby with black hair.  Nobody said anything about them being identical triplets.

Pat.  No offence taken or intended on my part.  Please don't let it get crazy.  Ladies, leave her alone... she's only doing what she is supposta do!!

Cuisle,

You can do like Pat C. did and hand root them or paint them if you like. I may try some of each!

Pat C.,
No offence taken and hope I didn't sound too overbearing.  Electric It's just that our forum has been such a success this past year plus, and I can understand people wanting to put pics in, but we also need to be considerate of others. Maybe someone wants to look and maybe someone else doesn't. We always want to give people the option. If someone wants to see the pic they just click on the link anyway. And I was one of those (up till last Feb) with dinosaur dial-up and it would take forever for those forums with alllllll those pics to load, just so I could go to the next page and wait again. So I do know that frustration too.

I would love to let everyone post pics but I don't want to loose my job over it. We have not had any problems so I'd like to keep it that way. You know me, always light and jokey!! Big Hug And you know what they say... HEY! Don't shoot me I'm only the messenger!  Nervous  Bouquet

Pat B.  No problems with you, I just didn't want things to get out of hand on my account.  Everything peachy with me.  smile.gif

Here are a couple of pictures of the two dolls I have completed.  The one dressed in pink and white is the one with the white body I already posted... Daan saw one with a pink body... and the one in blue and white has the blue body. Just for those who are interested.  Thank you for the compliment Daan, but yours is a very great talent that has allowed a whole bunch of us to play.  Still love your little dolls!!

Later Ladies,

Thank you ladies...   I'm still working on some more clothing for my little ones.  I have more little ones coming with the next release so that should keep me busy for a while.   Dragon

As for the nails Pat, it is the only thing that the puppy has not tried to eat this week!  Luckily I keep my babies in a well sugged down box that he has not been able to chew through, yet.   Thumbs Up  There is always next week.

have just finished painting them and as I have only been doing reborn dolls  since Oct 2007. Have found it easy to paint them after making multi award winning porcelain dolls for about 21 yrs. I have been getting my supplies from vanettesbassinetts in Queensland. Australia. I have finished 21 secrests dolls and 2 elly knopps. At present I am working on the triplets and three 8 inch berenger dolls. hope to have them all fininshed byend of next week. Ihave cut out the eyes and glued on little lashes, they do look cute. I am new at sending emails and dont know how to attach photos yet. I too would like to see them with their hair, maybe in a few days. Yours Sincerely, June M. from Oz.

i wasnt very pleased with the body or cloths that came with the triplets, but as I make porcelain dolls I have a body pattern for the wanke triplets that I am going to try,I think it will work out better, and have a neater neck. to me the sewing of the body and cloths that I got, my 9 yr old granddaughter could have made better. But as I like sewing,I,m sure they will be worthy of the time and effort, as I didn,t expect the choths I,m not very disapointed. JunE m.OZY7D9S

Hi there,
I just finished 2 of my Secrist triplets with the bodies and booties from a pattern Pat C. (Shakyhandsme) has for sale on Ebay. I use them as my Avatar for a coule of weeks so everybody has a chance to look at them.
The patterns are very easy to follow and the result is great, much better than the bodies supplied with the set.
I used cable-ties to secure the head and limbs but you can also use strong yarn, that way you won't have the bumps onder the clothing.
I just wanted to show them to you so you can see the finished product. I also like the fact that you can use a color you like and the baby looks already dressed.

This is an extra post, because here I started the topic and came Pat with the patterns.

Well, everyone - as it turns out, I didn't get this first set of triplets after all - I chickened out because I'm so new to reborning/newborning. However, I have finished my first (and only) reborn, and this was an 8" child's toy doll. She was in a bad state:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=155417673

but finishing her gave me courage. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to Danielle's NEW triplets (which this Forum is abuzz about) when they come out. I didn't get the "other" triplets, those in the onesies, because they didn't appeal to me - they didn't look like new dolls, but like "shrunken" editions of some existing molds - I didn't like the onesies either - they hid the tiny limbs.

Please, when Danielle's new triplets come out (and when is that ??) could they have softer bodies, not made out of the "stiff" material I have been reading about on this forum?

Danielle's second set of triplets should be coming out some time in late July to mid Aug (sorry it's such a time span). They are the cutest little guys (or girls)! And 2 with open eyes! (eyeballs pre-inserted)!

I do have a favorite and it's one of the open-eyed ones. One is sleeping peacefully. No body yawning this time.

I can't say what material the little cloth bodies will be made of. I'll have to ask them if we can change it to softer. We have a 4th set of triplets coming out around Nov so they may have just ordered all the bodies in bulk already to cover all the 4 sets of babies.

We had some larger bodies once, and people wanted them softer. So they did softer but then the material seemed thinner and didn't hold up as well. I wanted the other ones back. So we have to be careful what we ask for.
I'll e the office and see what they say.
