PLEASE: read the rules before posting in forum!idea  There are very few here but I will post more if we have some people who are not listening. We don't want to be meanies about it but it is for the benefit of everyone!

Yes, also remember that you may post a "link" to your baby or auction but not a picture. You may post a pic in the new Artist Showcase (but read the pic posting rules there PLEASE!)  We must be considerate of others and give them the choice to look at your pic or not. Also, some people still have slow connections and it takes time to download things (especially pics) and we don't want them to have a hard time loading the forum and the pics too!

Just an FYI, if you don't want to log in each time, you can click the "remember me" box and it will log you in automatically each time. That way you don't have to remember your password (but write it down anyway!).

Play nice with others. No sniping furious or I'll have to send you for a time-out! lol confused biggrin

Please be careful where you post your threads as I would like them to be where they go, not just any ol' were (KNIM?) so that everyone can look at them.

We don't want people posting the same questions several times in different locations so please be considerate and only post it once PLEASE! On the old forum people would post and post and post (get it?) the same questions in other topics and others would not search the forum for the answers to questions. They just posted them again, so PLEASE SEARCH the forum for your answer BEFORE posting! It will save us all a lot of time and you will get an answer faster.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, SEARCH THE FORUM BEFORE ASKING YOUR QUESTION!!! It might just already be there!

Danielle and I are new at moderating a really fancy forum like this so please bear with us if we boo-boo now and then weirdface (OOO I just love these little guys)!

So now, go forth and ask/answer questions and lets have a really good time doing it. YAY!!!! biggrin

Hello Linda - no, not scary at all. Quite the opposite, in fact. These people don't want a nasty forum - and I'm pleased they don't. This Forum is absolutely awesome, lovely people and no nastiness - just perfect, in fact.

You'll enjoy everything about it.

Welcome Linda to our new family forum.

Yes, we do have a lot of very talented artists, also some wonderful newbies like yourself who can come and learn, and also give us some new insites on the newborning/reborning world. It's always nice to have new blood in a group!

Also, as Cuisle said, we don't get nasty here (as some other forums do) and if someone does, or causes a ruckus... they are sent to their room for some time out! lolbiggrin

Thanks for that, I realy do like getting onto this site, to see what the other ladies have to say. Funny thing is, how many men get on here, as there was one gentleman in my porcelain doll making classes and he was O.K. at it.weirdfaceJune M from Oz

I had one or two in the old forum, not too often though. I find that there are some very talented male doll sculptors out there who also like to paint their creations. But most of the ones I know are famous!

I had a guy in my doll class years ago. He did ok for himself. I wish we had more in here.

My apologies for not reading the rules. I'm used to other forum formats that allow and share pictures. I moderate on other forums and understand that rules are made to benefit the well being of all members. Please remove my photo from my post as I know that pictures within a post does require extra bandwidth. I agree about posting the same question in different areas. Reading is knowledge so searching out information within a forum is a must. Please except my apologies again. I will be more observent from this point on.

Hi,
I am a new member and I have just started this wonderful art of newborning/reborning dolls and I love it! I am working on my 6th doll now and I think I am slowly making progress. I hope to learn a lot being her and at some point maybe I can offer help to someone.

Hello everyone, this too is my very 1st post to the forum.....not scared but very, very excited and honored to be here. Sooooooo many talented artist and newbies like me to meet and share ideas with. My daughter turned me onto "Reborning" and I love it. I just finished my first baby.."Tina", gave her as a birthday present to my Aunt..she always wanted her own baby. Now she has one and she loves her. Hopefully I can post a pic of her and get some feed back. again..just want to say..."I'm sooooo happy to be here".

Hello and welcome Cara! :)
There are lots of helpful forumers here and lots of subjects/threads for newbies to read (and of course the rest of us who tend to forget lol).
Scotland, wow!

Since you are a "total beginner" at newborning, may I suggest looking over the site to see all the wonderful things we have to help you? ;)
Our best and most helpful dvd made especially for newbies is the Beginner Classroom Training. I do believe we still have some dvd segments online so you can check it out before you buy.

We have the very best vinyl and it's non-toxic! We offer a one-stop-shop so you don't have to run all over to get what you need.

again, welcome and happy reading (and posting of course when you're ready). And yes, you did post in the right place!

Hello-
How soft is your vinyl if there is no silicone in it?
I didn't know you didn't have silicone in it, and don't
like hard vinyl.
I was looking forward to using the new paints.
Can they be used on silicone/vinyl?

Our vinyl is soft enough to not need to be heated to root! And our new vinyl is even softer. No, we have never used silicone in our vinyl because it is toxic when heated.
I know, I don't like the hard vinyl either, I can't stand to do my Knoops cause she's like a rock! lol

Yes, you can use the new paints on vinyl/silicone mix kits. I haven't had any problems with that or heard of any.

Several years ago I took my daughters to the home of a lady and the girls were able to construct their own babies on site, picking out eye color, hair, clothes, etc..  It was a special day.  Now I would like to do the same thing with my granddaughters.  The dolls were Secrist and the company name was "Remember Me" (I even have a catalog and the name of the lady who serviced us), but it appears that the format for making the dolls has now changed.  Does "Remember Me" still have an aspect of their business that offers the "build-a-doll" concept?  I live in Michigan, actually very near the site of the original Zook doll factory.

That dealers business may no longer exist. If they were the Apple Valley Dolls (sister company of Secrist Dolls) that would be very easy to do. You could order everything you need online (I do offer everything both websites offer on my website) and have it either shipped to you so your granddaughters can make them with you, or you can again, choose everything you need and have me put them together and they would then come with an outfit and be ready to play with.

Here is my website: www.timelesstreasurebabiesnursery.mysite.com

If that isn't quite what you wanted to do you may look in the Secrist site and AV site to see if your dealer still is in business. www.avdw.com or www.secristdolls.com

If you need any more help with this I would be glad to assist you. I have been with AV and Secrist for over 19 years. I live in MN so you couldn't just pop over, but I can still do it by mail for you. :)

Its always good to remember where you posted your message. Then you just go back to that topic thread to see if someone answered your question or made a comment. Then you can post again :D
