Ok, I have a question for those of you that use sculpey on your reborns.
Do I use it where I'm going to (ears, face, mouth, etc) and bake it till it's done first? Or paint it first? How does it hold up to multiple bakings? I've never used it in the manner in which I'm contemplating, which would involved numerous paint coats and bakings.
I usually put it where it is going to go, then do a partial bake (only bake for half the time), then cool and apply my heat-set paints and bake again. Most of those clays do not take well to baking multiple times. IMHO, it is best to do all your painting in one session, then bake. Be sure the paint is as dry as it can get without baking, then lightly and carefully apply your next layer, dry, next layer, etc. Then bake.
Someone who works with the clays a lot said you can paint the clay before baking, but again, you should only bake it once. With ears, you can either mold and bake them, then put them on, or you can put them on and bake and thus, remove having to glue them on after baking. Hope this helps hun.
I had checked on the elf and he was soooo adorable. But then I decided I had enough to do lol
