Okay so this post was about silicone vinyl and I did some research and found some of the answers to some of the question I needed from the precious post.
However, what still remains is if baking silicone is a good idea? I read in one place that you need special paints (Psycho Paint silicone base to help the paint adhere) Then paint them using Psycho Paint with Silc Pig pigments. What??????? Are those air dry??
Then in another I read you can put a matte varnish on as the base coat and then continue with the layers as you normally would with GHSP......
My next problem was where to find the dang kits! I can't find any dealers who sell silicone kits! Someone told me they used AD because they have silicone in them or are pure silicone. The only ones I found were already reborned. Any help here please???
Pat I read one of your threads that it was very toxic to bake a silicone kit, what do you know about this? I need all the advice I can get. I really like the feel and would love to try one but I definately need more information.
Do you have a facebook ? I'm pretty sure Laura Tuzio designs them. Go to her facebook page (but not her personal one the other one ) and if anything maybe you could see some !?
I have started a silicone baby I would like to know if their is a way to seal them without using Loctite. I tried sealing the face with it and it looked chalky. So I did get it washed off but now don't know were else to turn .Only have one doll would like to finish it I don't know about getting any more to expensive to buy. Thanks for any advice you can give. Linda
Oh Duhhh! lol I should have know that I'm going to check some. I guess I'd have to know the sculptor because I can't find them by searching silicone reborn kits. If I read correctly Andrea A's is silicone? and RE from Germany??
Linda, I don't know about sealing your silicone baby with locktite. I didn't think they sealed them or that there was a silicone sealer that should be sold with the silicone paints. You may want to ask Ruth Annette from SR as she has done a few silicones like AD Charlie. He was absolutely stunning! I don't think she said anything about sealing him. What paints did you use on your silicone baby?
Emily, yes, I was speaking of Laura Tuzio-Ross, I know she creates silicones. Also you may want to check DD to see if they have any. IMHO, it's very rare to find a full silicone "kit" so most of them are full dolls already. But never say never... and I don't know everything hahaha. And pm me on who RE is please. Either I'm really dense today or I didn't know about them lol. You can find Laura at www.myworldofbabies.com. She also has silicone/vinyl kits which may be an alternative for you.
I found some LTR kits and they're more than I hoped to pay but will try one because I'm so curious. They are really cute kits. I'm still having issues with DD so idk about that one. I did find some full silicone kits but they come from China so I don't think I want any of those as I'm sure they aren't phthalates free. The only full silicone kit I found was $700!! Way out of my price range! Thanks for the info, I plan to buy a kit in the near future.
Thats great that you found some kits. Yes, the expense of them will be high. And they need a special type of paints, no heat set paints. I don't believe that any of the silicone kits are phlatelate (sp?) free. And silicone kits cannot be baked in the oven.
