Hi! I watched the DVD on the Art of Sculpting and am hoping to get started soon. I'm wondering how you attach eyelashes for a clay sculpt. Is it different for closed and open eyed babies? Also, any advice on gluing on hair (for newborn) would be greatly appreciated!
Hello and welcome to our family forum. You're going to like it here. Please feel free to explore the forum and to use the search feature to get some of your other questions answered. :)
Attaching lashes to your clay sculpt would be the same as attaching them to a vinyl reborn. Closed or open they are applied the same.
For gluing hair on, you may want to use the search feature to get more answers. You can use a spray glue fixative and lay the strands one at a time on the head as you like the style to be. Otherwise you can brush on some glue and then apply the hair the same way as for spray glue. It is time consuming but you want to make sure that your sculpt's hair looks as good or as close to a rooted/wigged reborn vinyl doll.
You're welcome! You can use either one. I think it's personal taste. I like the newer clear thread ones for my babies as I already do a color liner around the inner rim of the eye. But when I didn't used to do that, I like the regular ones as it made the base of the lash line more accentuated as in natural humans. Especially since most clay sculpts don't tend to have quite as much fine detail as the vinyls.
So it would have to be your choice as to which ones you choose for which type of baby. Try one of each and just test fit them and see which ones you think look bettter. :D
