Oh my goodness thanks to all you ladies out there who posted about the rice sock!!!!! What a heavenly idea!!!!!
Today I started rooting and I was soo surprised at how easy it is now to root the thick vinyl. I haven't even broken a needle yet! Usually I've gone through two needles but not one broken. And my hands don't hurt either. Oh thanks so much!!!
I'm glad it made it easy for you, not sure if it wasPat or me, but I hope you put the glass of water in the microwave so the rice doesn't burn. XXXXX J une.
You're welcome Emily! Glad it works for you. It can be kind of a pain but better a little pain to reheat your rice sock than a big pain for your hands! I have gotten so that I dont' root without my rice sock. Seems that I can root better as far as less hairs in the folicle, unless it's just because the head is warm instead of me being better at it hahaha.
No your right! I noticed that too, I am more likely to root one strand at a time now. I mean I would before but it took so much more effort to make sure I did. June, I didn't forget the bowl of water It smells weird though kinda reminded me of baby formula hehehe
I don't think I will do it again without a rice sock! Thanks so much!
My mom makes rice bags for me,instant rice not old fashioned, for my fibro flares and she's used it for her RA. Mom puts it in a "bag" made from flannel material. No water needed and it holds the heat for some time.
Oh that's an idea I'll have to try as well, thanks so much for sharing that with us I guess after so many repetative movements (like rooting, and pouncing) any little help to make it easier is helpful eh.
I had my rice in a flannely bag but I still put the cup of water in the micro with it for heating. We do that so the rice doesn't burn. I put mine on for 3 1/2 minutes per time and it usually lasts over an hour. So my bag started fraying at the seams from in and out of the heads so many times. I took a support pantyhose and cut off the end, filled the rice up so it was a tube, then tied a knot in the end. Works a lot better than the cloth bag for me.
I just heat the rice in a sock and then I put the end of the sock into the neck and pour the rice itself into the head and then use a neck plug to keep it in. I don't like trying to get the sock in and out of the head. Then I put the opening of the sock over the neck and pour it back into the sock when I'm done. It works great for me. No hair stuck in the sock when I'm done. :)
