Hooray, RDK came through with one exception. Anyway, my baby RAINE kit arrived safely with the UPS man braving the snow to get here. BUT - Cindy didn't include the eye, which was supposed to be included. Oh well, I've emailed her about that, and I'll probably get it in about six weeks or so . . .
But I'm stumped. Since I've never assembled a kit before, I don't know how to do it. There is a body, and these four little white mitten like things without a thumb which I assume are to attach the arms and legs. But how? And then there are these plastic thingys, two large ones and two smaller ones. They seem to go with the things like round washers, two big ones and four small ones. What goes where and how?? I did order the Secrist DVD, so maybe I just need to wait for that. Thanks for any help for now, tho'. Brooke
Yeah, I'm so happy for you that your baby arrived! Too bad about the eye, but it will come way before you need it. As for the body, I have never assembled one like that so someone who is a lot more seasoned will have to give you pointers.
I wish you all the happy success in creating your new little treasure

It sounds much like the little bodies that Danielle Zweers created for her 6" mini triplets for Secrist. If you look on the site you will find a link for putting those bodies together with limbs. If the ends of the body (on the limbs part) are like little mittens, then the end of the limb goes in there and you turn the body inside out and attach the plastic things on the inside of the body. On the 6" bodies, this was done so the ty-wrap didn't show on the outside. I'll see if I can locate the instructions for the 6" and put a link. Otherwise you might have to ask Cindy how to do it. I'll go look...
I think I've had my last "conversation" with good ol' Cindy. Yes, the Raine doll arrived, minus the promised assembly instructions and minus the eye. Despite the fact that the kit I bought stated very clearly "15-16" 3/4 Arms, Full Legs, 18mm Eye", Cindy said that what that really is is just a "description" of the kit, and the eye is not included. Huh? Of course it is a description of the kit - the kit that I bought. The so-called "kit" also stated arms and legs, and those were included (so very kind of her - sarcasm intended). I guess I just should be happy I got Raine at all. But that will be my very last transaction with RDK and Cindy, and I'll be sure to let anyone else contemplating a reborn purchase know what a horrible "businesswoman" Cindy is.
There are so many other wonderful people out there that there is no reason to put up with someone like her.
Now if someone could just how to tell me the right way to get the head attached to the body so the head is floppy like a newborn baby. I figured out the arms and legs, but there is no connector for the head. Maybe there isn't supposed to be???
I'm sorry you had problems with her. I guess she's still running hot and cold hun. I don't think at this stage of the game that there are many that haven't had to go through that.
As far as attaching the neck... if you can take pics of the parts and put them in the showcase or put links in here, I'll have a look at them and see if I can help with her head assembly hun. I haven't dealt with the Raine kit so I'm not quite sure of how it fits together. Maybe someone else will come in in the meantime and help too. :)
I've given up getting the Sunshine kit from her. I've emailed her, giving her the whole story about WHY I wanted that kit before Christmas, and emailed her numerous times, and she simply cannot be bothered to answer a single email. I'm so disappointed by all of it. I'll do my best not to badmouth RDK, but I won't lie about them either.
Liselle, I have Cindy's phone number. It was printed on the box Raine came in, so if you want it let me know.
Pat, the problem is I'm basially computer illiterate!! I don't know how to upload and post photos. I do have a digital camera, a scanner and photoshop, but I haven't figured out how to get them all to work together!!!
Oh, Pat - I've got to tell you.. I'm getting a new kitten. A little Singapura, which will be my first and only purebread. He won't have papers because he is not what show judges look for, he's too dark, but I don't show cats. Larry and I just want another family member for our four month old kitten to play with. I'll post a picture of him too, when I learn how . . .
Brook, there is some discussions and directions in forum on how to upload pics to the artist showcase. June will be one of the first to say she didn't think she could ever do it and now she is! I did a sticky of how to post pics also. If you want to post links... then you have to put your pics in something called "Photobucket" and then copy/paste the links to bring into forum. So for you it might be best to just to photos in the artist showcase instead of the links in the other topic threads (pics are only allowed in artist showcase).
OH! That is great news on the kitty. :) My Maine Coon also was a beautiful purebreed with no papers (pet quality they call them). I'm glad your little 4 mo old will have a playmate! They are work when kittens but well worth it I think.
Thank you, but I don't think I'll be calling her. I tend to get flustered when I speak to people, especially people I've having issues with. It wouldn't be a pretty conversation. LOL
I would also prefer not to speak to someone who I have had many bouts of issues with. I might say something we both would regret. And if I can get something in writing, well... that's even better. But thanks for the phone number anyway Brooke. :)
