Confused about Purple wash.

Hi, everyone!.
I'm brand new to reborning and have just bought my doll. It's an La Berenguer. I don't even know if thats a good doll to start with but it just looked so cute. I haven't done anything to it yet because I am confused about wether or not to do a purple wash. I really don't know where to start. Should I do a purple wash?, what about bruising?, will it take ok to a berenguer?. Should I just paint outside?. I'm really confused. Any advice would be really helpful.

I have attached a picture, let me know if you think it needs painting or not. I haven't removed any of the factory paint yet.

Welcome to the forum Claire :)
I usually do all my washes from the outside of the kits unless it's a Secrist or translucent kit then I may apply an inside wash. But to answer your question, I wouldn't do an enternal wash (won't help anyway) I might just give her some purple or blue wash to the thinning areas normally found on infants from the outside.
Hope this helps.
Happy reborning!!

With the purple wash, I would only do it inside a the bridge of the nose behind the eyes ad behind the ears, this is where it shows up on babies also do veining acros the bridge of the nose, just lightly. you can do a bit of mottling with it on the outside but I wouldn't put an all over wash on the outside. Hope this is of some help. XXXXXX June.

Only our Secrist/Apple Valley doll kits require an internal wash since they are created translucent like a baby's skin. Also the German made kits are pretty similar so you may do them also with the purple (periwinkle) wash. Some just do bluish or purple very lightly on the bridge of the nose (actually real babies don't have bridges yet), as June said behind the ears and behind the eyes. Be sure to use heat set paints as the acrylics wil cause bruising as you were afraid of.

Usually the Berenguer's have a slight orangish tone to their vinyl You will want to do a color correction before starting to paint. Please use the search feature to find colorcorrecting vinyl in the forum threads (top of page).

And welcome to our family forum!
