Reborning my first peach kit
Permalink

Hi--I am reborning my first peach kit from BB and was wondering if I needed to add any additional color steps that is not mentioned on the Secrist beginner DVD or the Special Reborn Encyclopedia Part 1 DVD.  I know if you buy an extra pink kit you have to use another color to tone it down...but what about a peach kit, do you need to tone it up or is it good to go?  Thanks, Jaden

I have some Peach kits, the 4 Donna Ru Bert ones, I think it is a nice colour , I am reborning 2 Conners , have done the flesh tones and it hasn't changed the colour much, at all. So I am thinking it is a nice flesh tone colour to start off with and will not take as long to reborn. XXXX June.     HAPPY REBORNING

Thanks Tina and Sara!!  I did the blue wash on the outside of the doll like I usually do, then I added the veins, and then I pounced on some flesh 08.  And Sara, I'm reborning a peach Conner too.  My concern was that Conner still looks quite blue even after adding the flesh 08--it is as if I didn't even add the flesh 08.  In fact the blue wash didn't seem to change the color of the kit either.  I'm planning on doing the berry maker technique as shown on Encyclopedia Part 1  DVD--will that be enough layers to warm up the blue?  I don't want to have to add many more layers after that because it might cover up the berry maker effect.  I'd rather add more flesh 08 layers now or add some pink like Tina-you suggested.  Is the peach Connor skin tone supposed to look more like the used Berenguer play dolls that I've reborn at this step in the reborning process (after doing the purple wash, the veining and the pounced on flesh 08)???  Because the other dolls I've done at this stage in the game look alot less blue/gray.  Thanks for your help--Jaden

Jaden, the blue wash should go inside the head not the outside, I only ever do inside near bridge of nose, ears and mouth, I'm not sure on this one, maybe a mint wash will colour correct the blue, might have to leave this bit to Pat. I have learnt to do the veins after I have done a layer or two of flesh wash as it doesn't soak into the vynal as quick and you have more time to lighten and thin the veins. When I want the mottled look I ponce on a light wash of Periwinkle Blue with a make up sponge I have plucked peaces out of so the aren't all the same size, then do the same with your blush colour, do it thinly and in small sections and blot with clean makeup sponge. Hope this helps. XXXXX June.

To my knowledge, Secrist/AV kits are the only ones that call for the internal wash as most of the others are more opaque and not translucent like the Secrist vinyl. Only the German vinyl from DD is similar.
Like June (SaraZata) I only do the blue type coloring in the areas like the bridge of the nose, temples, etc. Anywhere where a babies skin tends to be thinner so the veining shows more.

As far as "color correction" on the vinyl, use your colorwheel with the posts found by searching the forum (type the words in the search box at top of page). Sounds like you may need a bit of it. If you're having difficulties with your baby, you can post pics in the artist showcase, or links to it in here to get help. Could be you may have given your baby a bit more of the blue and it's showing through more.

Hope this helps :)

You may need a few more coats of flesh. I use various shades and where I want the blue to show a bit more I "skim" over those areas when I'm doing my flesh coats, it will eventually cover the blue and tone it down, at least for me. If I found I went too blue in areas I color coreect over those areas with a correcting wash but usually the flesh coats do the trick.

Yes, either "orange baby" "orange" or "color correction" should bring up lots of threads where we have discussed it.

Also, if you want to take a shortcut.. Secrist offers a product for helping color correcting orange vinyl.
