hiya im hoping you can help me, ive got an eye tool that measures eyes the calliper type where u measure with one side and it gives you the eye measurement you need at the other side, problem seems to be that. for instance Dumplin according to the site needs 20/21 mm eyes but the measurement on the tool is 14mm ive looked on the internet and on here to find out if the reading is right but im totally in the black about this can anyone explain if im using this tool correctly or not.
also can someone tell me when to put the eyes in, ive watched a few tutorials and in one they eyes were put in first the second one they were put in after the face painting but before the hair, any help on this would be appreciated.
thanks Carol xx

Are you measuring the eye from the very inside corner to the very outside corner? Is your tool like the one Secrist sells? http://www.secristdolls.com/inc/sdetail/24473 It also gives a mini tutorial on the page where the tool is. All eyes are measured in mm and you measure the eye opening with the smaller end of the tool not the broad part. If you do a forum search we also have several posts on measuring for eyes.
Unless you are using Secrist "Real Eyes brand" doll eyes, always wait until you don't have any more to bake, then insert eyes. Some do it before rooting, some after. If they are any other eyes, ALWAYS after all your baking and heating (if you use a heat gun) are done.
