I have left over Jack Russell puppy pads- just your run-of-the mill fiber pads- and even though I am fairly new to reborning-about 4-5 mos. I have found them to be fabulous!! Basically when you start painting you can use them to test out you paint with your mineral spirits- pouncing your sponge- to get the right amount to paint and also for when you clean your brushes to test the and make sure they are clean, etc. You get the idea- just sharing tips with friends- any other great ideas out there?
Puppy pads sound great. I started out testing on a plain white napkin, and found it works just fine and doesn't break the bank. I buy the gigantic package of cheap, plain white naptkins.

I can't help but laugh. I can top yours. I use my maxi pads that are left over from pre-menopausal days. They have that sticky part to them and you can just stick them on your work area as you work and when you need to wipe your brush, test some paint of even wipe your fingers if you get any of the mediums on them, they are simply fabulous for that!!!!

Interesting idea also! :o Oh the things we artists come up with. Sometimes the strangest things work, and if it works, and won't break the bank, who cares what it looks like eh? :)
Still laughing over June's reticence to try this last suggestion...
