Abby, she is an angelic little thing. So sweet. I too hope she does well in the auction.
One thing though in reading her auction... I noticed that she says: "Her head has a weighting sachet of rust proof lead shot and..." If it is truly "lead" I would have her remove it. Let is toxic hun and the effects are cumulative. It can also leach out into the vinyl. I'm just letting you know. Children and adults both have gotten lead poisoning.
She is fabulous. I noticed there are 3 bids already. Hope Jan gets lots more!
About the metal...maybe it's stainless steel that won't rust. RE of Germany sells stainless steel granules as a fill material.

Thanks Linda :) Yes it is rust proof steel, it was a wording error which unfortunately can't be changed as there are bids, she has amended it at the bottom though. I'm waiting for more prototyes to come through, the delay was due to a problem with the vinyl not withstanding heat setting, luckily jan uses air dry paionts so was able to do hers. The other ladies who have agreed to do it are waiting patiently for theirs. This has been such a long process fraught with problems, definitley been an eye opener! Really looking forward to getting my hands on the final shipment so can start selling in earnest, don't really dare push it at the moment in case anything else goes wrong to put the date back agaain!
I personally can't wait to see what other ones you have sculpted... I am very excited about your success and even through the problems I think you handle it very well... ME I would have been so nervous and upset. I just know you will be successful with this sculpt... even if you do or don't make anymore.
God Bless!

Thanks Jodie :) I have sculpted a 20" newborn for the colliii awards, if Hope sells I plan on having him made into kits, if she doesn't then I won't be able to afford to!
I don't know how you sculptors find information on having your own kits made. Danielle Zweers did that too with her little Isabeau. I think personally, I would rather sculpt for a company and have them deal with all the headaches (IMHO). But that's just me.
What did you mean by: "the vinyl not withstanding heat setting"? Did it melt or something when subjected to heat? Sounds pretty weird but then again I don't know anything about making vinyl. :o I hope everything else goes well with the production as I know you are anxious to get them to market. :)
If I could've got a company to notice me Pat I would rather have gone down that route too, but they didn't! The vinyl split in the oven with the first lot of prototypes, don't ask me why but the manufacturers seemed to understand why and what to do to stop it happening with the next lot. Will be testing it tho to make sure they are definitely oven safe. As to how I found a manufacturer, it wasn't easy! I emailed sculptors who had already had kits made and none of them would share their info, so I ended up googling for hours until I found a few companies.
I can't understand the big "secret" in sharing who manufactures your kits i mean is there that big of a competition where you can't help a new upcomming sculptor make her own kit? What is the threat? I mean are they afraid that now thier kits won't sell because someone else is having one made? I just don't get it but I guess it's just my nature to help others instead of hindering them.
Anyway I do hope things work out Abby. She a beautiful little angel and I just know she'll sell like crazy once she's out on the market.
Wow, I had no idea other artists will not share info on manufacturers. I can't see where sharing that information hurts business. If the vinyl and kit size is equal, the factors influencing sales will be the face/limb features followed by price.
Aren't most of the vinyl kits made in China?
