Using the Gensis 5 basic colors
Permalink

Okay I recieved my order from bb and I bought the 5 basic colors. and I went back to print there chart for making 30 different colors..  When it says for example: if I wanted to get a flesh color and the colors are white+gensis red+gensis yellow=1:T:T( what does the T stand for?) that's my question in the Paranthesis's...

I hope I explained myself and that my question makes sense.... I wanted to stand making my own colors since I thought it would be help and easier on the wallet.. lolbiggrin Thank you

Oh! That one I don't know hun. Since it's BB's formula, try asking them. I'm sure it's some kind of simple code that I'll say DUHHH to after you let us know what it means. I thought Tablespoon but...

The first part of their formula is always the ratio.

Not sure what the T stands for, but it could be 'tad" or something similar since some people use the measuring spoons that have a spoon called "tad".  (Spoon measurements are:  drop, smidgen, pinch, dash and tad.) Or, maybe the T stands for toothpick because I would start out with about the amount of red and yellow that fits on the end of a toothpick.  You can always add more color but there's nothing quite so frustrating to me as going overboard and then having to add white to lighten.

At any rate, I think the meaning is to use a teeny amount of the Genesis Red and the Genesis Yellow.

The translation of 1:T:T in the Flesh formula would be:
Flesh = 1 White + tad of Genesis Red + tad Genesis Yellow

So...  mix a tiny bit of Genesis Red and the same amount of Genesis Yellow into the white.  If it appears too dark or intense, you mixed too much red or yellow into the white.  Add more white if you add too much of the red and yellow.

Hope this helps.

Linda

Mr Secrist used to tease me about my babies being so light (Norwegians) because I used flesh 08 for the base. I don't think I dare add any white or yellow, they'll look like vampires then or ghosts! hehehe

I have a set of those little spoons, I think I either got them at the drug store, Target, or Michael's. There were a bunch of them. Same spoons, really cheap!

Tad, trace, dollop... hmmm funny language we have isn't it. hahahaha

I see that I have taught Sage and Tina well since you are unafraid to use your yellow-white blended with the flesh color or alone as a base color.  LOL.  If I make one of the pink vinyl babies from BB, it's a necessity to use the yellow to warm up the skin tone.  Otherwise, the final product looks ill with a sort of grayish look.  Jaundiced skin would actually be an improvement because at least the baby would look alive and in need the lights to bring down the bilirubin level.
