Hi,
I have a La Newborn doll that I want to reborn.  My question is, can I bake it with the eyes in it??   I hope so because I really would rather not take the eyes out if I don't have to.

Thanks,
Tami

Nope, not a good idea at all. The eyes that come in 99% of the play dolls on the market will not withstand any heat. Especially not the 265 degree F temp that the paints must be baked at. And even if you are successful at baking them without having them melt and distort, down the road they will do funny things, like discolor, become cloudy, etc.
I certainly wouldn't want to put all that work into a reborn, only to have to replace the eyes somewhere down the road when it's all finished. :o

Secrist Real Eyes brand doll eyes are made to withstand the temps and repeated bakings we give our kits. I'm not trying to promote them but I have used them for over 20 years in my dolls and their performance is superior to all other acrylic eye on the market IMHO. I even use them in my porcelain dolls for competitions.

Hi Tami,
Buffington is correct.  A friend baked her Berenguer without removing the eyes.  She said they melted so be sure to take the eyes out of the head first.
