Clear coat matte sealer:

If you need to seal the paint on your baby to protect the delicate paint job then this is what you want. Applies easily and bakes to create a tough coating.

Superior shine remover:
Most reborn artists today have the challenge of removing shine from faces, fingers, and toes. Authentic Reborn is the only company that offers a product to remove 100% of the shine. Our Superior Shine Remover even helps protect your baby from sun damage wherever you apply it.

I hope this helps :)

I'm as confused as you are.  When I started reborning several years ago, we were told that the matte varnish was the product to use to reduce shine.   Of course, the Authentic Reborn products didn't exist at that time.

if you are looking for something to reduce the shine, I would recommend a coat of the Authentic Reborn Shine Remover Sealer.

THanks for reply....ok.....I thought that Clear Matt is probably a lighter product of shine remover
then the shine is more sealant.

To further clarify....

I was told that Genesis paints used on vinyl should not require further sealing.  I'm not sure about whether air dry paints need sealer but would imagine there is an alternative air dry product available so there wouldn't be a need to mix paint types.

I really think the matte varnish continues to be another alternative to reducing shine.
In addition,  Genesis has slightly changed the matte varnish product so that it looks to have a flat/matte appearance in low light, but appears to have more of a satiny look in sunlight.  The goal is to give a more moist look without the intense shine that makes the skin look fake (like shiny vinyl).

I haven't yet tried the new matte varnish so cannot attest to how it actually looks, however, I have tried the Superior Shine Remover.  It definitely worked very well when I limited it to one coat.

smile  i love the matte varnish and while i'm not an expert i'd recommend it. i have a baby i didn't use it on-- shiny-- matte--no shine. i pounce it on with a cosmetic sponge,i feel it helps with texture too.        sage aww

Like Linda said, I too was told (by Genesis) that their paints didn't need sealer. I have never used sealer on any of my babies (or their nails).

Secrist says their superior shin remover is tops! No need for anything else for a totally shine-free baby. Matte varnish works well too. I suppose it depends on the look you're going for and what you like the best.

As far as "air-dry" I'm sure, like acrylics, it needs a sealer to be as permanent as they get.
